Its very easy to meet people freshman year through dorming, programs, and orientation. There are always programs going on on the weekends for people who dont want to go out or just to meet new people. Athletic events are not that popular. There are a lot of opportunities to make new friends doing something you like: radio station, greek life, student government, etc.

There are many clubs that people can join from greek life to cultural organizations to the radio station. If you dont drink there are programs put on by Student Programming Board which they play movies and things of that nature

I am in Phi Sigma Sigma and it has been one of the most beneficial aspects to my college career. Since becoming a phi sig, my grades have improved, I have gained more friends and I have been able to take on leadership roles within my chapter. I have loved every part of it and my sisters are always there for me. I know that I can count on 100 other girls sympathizing with my problems and I know that a lot other people can not say that.

Everyone can find their niche here at QU as long as they are willing to seek it. One thing that really lacks is school spirit and ANY WAY this can be improved would greatly improve campus spirit and unity. If you make students who live off campus (as a great percentage of them do now) drive to campus, take campus transportation to a sporting event, take the same transportation back, and then be able to provide their own transportation, going to a basketball game has gone from a 2hr even to an all day affair!! From what I understand the parking situation is the issue, and something needs to be done about it. Think about all of the sports teams who could have more support and encouragement from the student fans if getting to and from the game was a little easier.
Quickly on Greek Life: It's getting bigger, becoming a great philanthropic and healthy social outlet for students and University Administration needs to realize their growth an POSITIVE impact they can have on the campus. I suggest they take time to see how Greek programs are run at other nearby schools and see how policies can be improved that allow Greek Life to sponsor new events, go on day trips and exist here on campus to their fullest potential. I understand there is a liability issue, but I know it could be handled better.

most people form their friends around who they lived with/near freshman year. i know that if i didnt live in a particular hallway i may have never met some of my closest friends.

I'm involved with Phi Sig, S.T.A.R. and Rotaract. In the freshman dorms most kids leave their doors open. The mens athetics are more popular. Guest speakers and theathers are popular when students have to go for a class. Most people find someone to date at school but there are a few who are going with someone from their home town. My closest friends I met in my freshman dorm and from my soroity. If I'm awake at 2 am on a Tuesday I'd either be studing or watching tv. There use to be Mayweekend but that has been cancelled, there is the club fair and midnight madness. Frats and sorotities are not that big but they try to make a different. I hung out with my Phi Sig sisters and some other friends. That doesn't involve drinking, the movies, bowling, go to dinner etc. Off campus, I go to dinner with friends, shopping both clothes and food etc

greek life is one of the most dominant orginizations that does the most work around campus and the community. athletic events are pretty popular especially ice hockey with the beautiful new rink.

The school does a good job of providing activities for students, but I wish we had more concerts and things like that

Most popular organizations on campus would be the sports teams, espeically men's lacrosse and hockey. Sororities and fraternaties are growing rapidly. I am involved in a sorority and Dance Company. I met most of my friends through those organizations.
