Greek Life has a big presence but they're not known for parties. It's a bar school. Get a fake.

The group I'm involved in is the Pep Band and it is alot of fun. We get to go to ice hockey and basketball games for free and we get to play music to boost the moral of the fans and support the teams in play. It's organized and the music is well chosen for the type of games we go to.

Hopefully you like clubbing with dirty mexicans

There are a lot of fantastic activities (like QUAD events and the Coffeehouse), guest speakers (including former Presidents), and alternatives to a Saturday night spent out drinking offered to students. However, I'll say again it speaks to the shallow values of the student body that these events are sparsely attended (or in the case of Former President Carter's visitation, students were mandated to attend for classes). I have a deep respect for those students and school leaders who put on these events but to have certain student organizations organize a movement to get students to come on ByStudents.com and attest that Quinnipiac University has a diverse and active student body doesn't put attendees to these suffering events, and in facts makes the jobs of those student leaders trying to fix the problem that much harder. Like I said, it's like having cancer, refusing to believe it, and therefore-- doing nothing about it.

The Greek life here pretends to be influcetial, but they don't really do much. TKE is more of a popularity fraternity with very little community involvement, while SigEp, while it has its flaws, is a little better in terms of affecting the university and the student body.
The sororities never seem to have any presence, aside from selling cookies sometimes.
Otherwise, there are clubs for a lot of interests, and new clubs are not hard to make and promote, and student activities are very supported. There are also university-organized activities that people go to from time to time, but very often they are ignored towards the second half of the semester when people realize that getting drunk is better than seeing a magician perform.

popular organizations: SGA (student government), PRSA (public relations), SPB (student programming board), WQAQ (radio), Q30 (tv station), the summit (yearbook), etc. students in dorms do leave their doors open, for the most part only in freshman dorms because the older kids have more private dorms. athletic events getting more popular. guest speakers are not so popular and neither is theater unless it's required. dating is random and sporadic but definitely prevalent. "if you're awake at 2am on a tuesday, what are you doing?" well it's 1216 am on a monday and i have a 10 page paper due tomorrow at 1230 in the afternoon but i fell and chipped a bone in my elbow on may weekend and i don't remember it and somehow i got the ability to email my teacher and this survey to let her know i wont be able to attend class or finish the paper...but i'm writing this after experiencing the best kush in the entire world. frats and sororities are sort of popular. traditions are based on rivalries and may weekend and spring concerts...party thursday-sunday and depending on when you want during the week, the bars are always open.

The most popular groups/organizations/clubs/teams on campus are the fraternities and sororities, student government, Inter-Fraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, the men's hockey team, and the men's lacrosse team.
I'm involved in TKE.
Yes, students in dorms often leave their doors open.
Men's hockey and basketball games are the most popular athletic events.
I met my closest friends freshmen year that lived by me in commons.
If I'm awake at 2am on a Tuesday, I'm doing homework.
People party every thursday, friday, and saturday
Fraternities and sororities are very important...they do a lot on campus.
Last weekend I partied and did homework.
Homework, sleed, watch/go out to a movie or go to dinner off campus.
Go to clubs, dinner, movies, the mall...etc.

pretty easy to make friends here, alot of activities. the drinking schedule is pretty much thursday is the start of the weekend and saturday is the last night of drinking for most, although you can find a party every night if you know where to look. thursday is usually a club night, friday and saturday are on campus, unless you have a fake or are over 21 in which most people go to the bars, mostly Toad's Place(Toads for short) in New Haven. there are free movies on saturdays if you don't drink.

Freshman year living in Ledges was like its own little community; everyone left their doors open and welcomed others. Sophomore year living at Mountain View was a bit more secluded because there were so many people living in one room alone (we had 11 girls). Even though it was more quiet, students still kept their doors open. Junior year is a bit more secluded and students do not usually leave their doors open. Frats and sororities are becoming more popular but you do not have to join them in order to have a social life.

Student Programming Board has a huge presence on campus and in student life. They plan the activities that the most people attend, like the spring concert, and campus sponsored movies, games, etc. In any hallway on campus you'll find a few doors open, usually not most though. Partying completley depends on the group of people. Some people don't at all, and find other things to do, like the university sponsored events. Some people party 3 or 4 days a week, either on or off campus, sometimes at sports houses down the street. Frats and sororities here are different from most schools. There are 2 fraternities and 3 sororities. They sponsor a ton of school events but they don't live together in a frat house like at a lot of state universities. They aren't very big on campus, the majority of students are not in them. Off campus, you can go out to eat at many of the local resturaunts in Hamden. Or, you could go shopping at some of the clothing stores, sports stores, or the walmart in town. you can also venture into New Haven which also has a wide variety of resturaunts, 18+ nightclubs, and shopping.
