What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Emily

There are 75 clubs and organizations to be a part of. 5 Sororities and Fraternities. Lots of things to do on the weekends that are planned by students. Seniors live off campus as of right now but there are lots of local bars and restaurants in the area that people go to on the weekends as well.

I do not feel that there is a specific group or club that is most popular, there is a club/or group that will interst everyone. Student do leave there doors open in the halls, exspecially in Irma/Dana. My closest friends are my roomates and a bunch of other girls on my hall. On Saterday nights there are many things to do that doesn't involve drinking because QU After Dark is always programming activities.

I feel that Greek Life is a huge part of our campus. I am involved in Alpha Chi Omega and it changed my life. I have met the most amazing people and it has really help me to come out of my shell. I have done so many things that I would never have done without them. I metmy closest friends at the end of freshman year and they have been my best friends ever since. I think that people party from Thursday till Saturday. I think that if you do not want to party you can go see a movie or do some events that the Student Center sponsors.

Colleen

The most popular organizations would be Student Government Association, Habitat for Humanity, Greek life, Hockey, Lacrosse. Students definitely leave their doors open so that people can come in and socialize. I would be hanging out with my roommates jsut goofing off at 2am. People party a lot but not everyone does...but a majority of people make that their focus.

Brianne

Dorm doors are kept open for most of the time. There are many events on the weekends to keep busy if you don't go out into New Haven.

Greeks are different this campus. They are interested in community service and philanthropy as well as educational excellence and having fun. Since we aren't as large of a group as on most other campuses and we don't have houses, the social scene is often more different. We have socials off campus as well as our fundraisers, formals and any other activities. There are so many different student activities/clubs to choose from that there is something for everyone to pick from. They are always hosting events for people to go to. Partying on campus is ok. It isn't anything huge because of the size of the dorms and the fact that houses are farther from campus then they might be from other campuses. Also, since we are so close to New Haven, there is a great night life there. They have nightclubs, bars, theaters, and many many tasty restaurants. They also have great shopping there.

Some of the biggest organizations are Greek life, Student Government, Quad, the Hockey team, Lacrosse team, baseball team, and softball teams. I am in the future teacher's organizations which is mostly people in my major and we plan activities and fund raisers that help local schools and give us the opportunity to have more experience and information about our specific fields. The athletic events are really popular, the speakers would depend on who it was and the theatre is popular with people supporting their friends are going for a class. I haven't dated on campus but I meet guys in my dorm or on the weekends, my roommate is dating our neighbor it's really sweet. But there are definitely more girls on campus than guys. I met my closest friends freshman year in my dorm. If I am awake at 2 am on a Tuesday I am either studying or really mad at my roommates. Every year there parent's weekend which is so fun and May weekend which was the best time I had all freshman year. There is also the faculty holiday dinner when the faculty serve the students dinner before winter break it's awesome. Most people party on Thursday-Saturday nights and not necessarily all three. The fraternities and sororities are present on campus but you do not have to be in one to fit in. Last weekend I stayed in on friday night and made dinner with my roommates and saturday night we went to a friends room on campus. On saturday you can have a movie night with your friends, go out to dinner, go to a movie, go shopping, or have a game night.

QU offers a lot of student activities throughout the weekends for those who don't drink, although I know people who don't drink that aren't necessarily satisfied. Greek life here isn't huge, but those who are in it love it. During the week there aren't parties or anything (besides thursday nights), so most people are doing work...on the weekends there's a good amount of partying but a lot of people go into New Haven to the clubs and bars. Most people have fakes. There isn't one really popular organization on campus, but a lot of opportunities are given to all students to join as many as possible.

Dale

A lot of what we do is on campus parties, off campus parties, New Haven scene on Thursday nights, and sometimes off campus in New Haven on Saturday nights.
