Quinnipiac University Top Questions

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Sarah

You do not need to be a part of Greek life to make friends. Alot of people choose to drink and party on the weekends but if it is not your thing, there are activities every Friday and Saturday night on campus.

Ryan

Seriously...trust me...everything's great here when it comes to fun. Plus the females overpower the guys at a 60-40 ratio. : ) THAT is a fact, not a stereotype.

Stephanie

Clubs are quite popular at Quinnipiac. People live on campus till senior year which ensures many friendships and always something to do.

Most people just join some form of sports team. Eh, whatever. Go ahead and play your childhood games if you please. The dating scene? There is no dating scene. Theres a one-night-stand scene, and a lets-date-and-get-into-a-melodramatic-fight-about-how-he-slept-with-another-girl scene, but other than that.... eh nevermind, people just like to fuck. Oddly enough, people dont really smoke here. Kinda smelly in the dorms, ya know? Umm, the musical events are pretty cool, theres a couple of local bands on campus.

Hockey and Basketball are the most popular thing up in our new TD Bank North arena's. They're amazing.

The men's hockey team is the most popular team in the winter. In two freshmen dorms, the doors stay open by themselves, so the doors are open if someone is in the room. However, in the other two freshmen dorms, the door automatically closes, so the doors aren't open as much. People party every weekend, however, they also study so the weekend before finals is quiet. Greek life is not important because there are no on campus houses. There are only 3 sororities and 2 fraternities. On a Saturday night without drinking, a student can go to an on campus event such as a movie.

Sara

If it wasn't for joining a sorority my sophomore spring, I probably would have graduated with maybe 4 friends, including my 2 roommates. People say joining Greek Life is like paying for your friends, but whatever, I found a bunch of girls who I can be myself around, which is so important. After I graduated, most of my friends moved back home, but I was still at QU for grad school. I ended up becoming very close with some of the girls in the sorority who were a year below me. I really can't stress how great it was to join. Greek Life gets little respect on campus, even though we do a lot for different charities. Granted, we like to have fun, but at the same time, we help others.

There are a lot of clubs and intramurals if you are not involved in D1 athletics. Sororities and Fraternities are popular, but do not make up the bulk of campus activity. Hockey games on Friday nights are extremely popular.

Tara

Students in the freshman doors definitely leave their doors open to meet new people, but in the later years it is less common. Events are not too popular; sports are the only thing that really attracts a decent amount of students. People party every weekend, including Thursdays. Fraternities and sororities are not popular here. On a Saturday night you can go to the movies or go to a QUAD (QU After Dark) event on campus, instead of drinking.
