Liberty University Top Questions

What should every freshman at Liberty University know before they start?

Justin

Don't go to a "college for a weekend" it's all fun and games and a little school experience. Want to see the real college, then go anyother time. Also, no school is perfect. Liberty is a "dry campus" yet staff drink and students under the radar.

Find a college that is right for you. Look for one first that has the major and programs that you are interested in. Then make sure that they have your back up plans and your back up back up plans. Never look at the money. If you want to go to that school, the money is out there no matter how poor you are. If you work hard enough, God will provide. All loans can be paid back even if it takes you 50 years. If you get the education than you will have the job that you want and that pays well enough to pay back the loan. Or else you are stuck with whatever job you can find that doesn't require a college degree. Once you are there, have fun. Keep up with your classes and learn as much as you can. But also have some fun and make some friends. College is a time for experiences. Travel and see the world. When else will you have the opportunity?

Sometimes you should just go with your gut feeling and see what happens. I was supposed to visit Liberty before I came, but circumstances led me away from seeing the college, so my first day seeing the campus, was my first day here at school. It really was the best choice I ever made.

just remember that the college that you decide to go to will affect you as a person and is a major and very important stage in your life. So research and ask questions, maybe even visit. Make sure you are where you know you are going to grow.

It really helps to visit the school before you make your final decision. Also, make a list of certain things that you want to get out of the school. When researching different schools you will have a better idea of what you are looking for. Lastly, you can tell a lot about a school from their web site. Check it out, but I wouldn't consider it you making your final decision based upon it, but it does help.

I would tell parents and/or students to see what school fits them best. The worst thing you could do is go to a school where you dont fit in, I strongly recomend visiting the campus and talking with other students and faculty. Also I feel that personal beliefs and world views should be looked at before choosing a school. For instance if you are Catholic you wouldn't want to go to BYU. Lastly I would say look at what you want to major in, this is the most important thing, you need to see where that school stands in relation to other schools in what you want to do with your life. You shouldn't settle when it comes to your education you should strive for the best, and you need to be certain that paying 20,000+ a year for school is going to pay off in the end.

Get involved in any clubs and societies as early as possible. The more societies in the field you wish to study, the better the school is for you.

richard

research, resaech, and pray for God help!!! in making that decision.

Your choices concerning college are a major determinant of your future. Consider the atmosphere, the opportunities, and the location. Choose a school that not only fits you now, but will allow you and help you to grow into the person that you want to become. Choose a school where you can have fun and learn at the same time - those two things should never be mutually exclusive. Choose a school that provides you with opportunities to learn in the style that works best for you. Choose a school whose graduates achieve success in the real world. Most importantly, choose a school where you are comfortable - a school where you can form helpful relationships. Remember that you need support. Make friends in college. Have fun. And take every opportunity to learn and grow. You will never have as much access to learning as you have during college. Take advantage of your time.

The process of finding the right college is different for everyone. I remember when I was looking at colleges for the first time I got sick to my stomach at the thought of leaving home. This changed when I started looking a Liberty University. I just felt this feeling of peace come over me. It was this that made me chose Liberty. The fact that I began to feel like I was ready to leave home and live in a different state from my partens (of whom I am very emotionally dependent on) was how I knew Liberty was the place for me to be. I believe that one should never chose a college that they can not see themselves being comfortable in. All in all I would advise students to "go with their gut", if they feel right about a certain place then that is where they should be. If not, then continue looking until you come to the college that blows you away like Liberty did for me.
