  • There are 76 two year schools. 22 of which are public community colleges.
  • Over the past 5 years, Arizona colleges have seen a huge 19.7% drop in students. In 2017, 591,626 students were enrolled in college.
  • In total, there were 116,243 degrees awarded for the 2016 school year. The majority of which were bachelor degrees.

Arizona's Tuition Programs

Arizona offers several in state tuition programs. The first is AZTransfer. This program helps community college students transfer their credits to either ASU, Northern Arizona University or University of Arizona. The goal of the program is to make college an option for all people in Arizona.

Residents may also qualify for the Arizona Board of Regent’s High Honors Tuition Scholarship. Known as the AIMS Scholarship, students can receive an award valued at 25% of the in state tuition cost.

Arizona is also a member of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). This program allows students to pursue degrees in one of 15 Western states at an in state tuition rate. According to WICHE, Arizona students have saved over $136 million out of state tuition since 1998. In 2018 that number was $18 million! Participating states include New Mexico and Utah.
