My opinion on Arizona Western College is that it is the best college for students in the Yuma region. I was a student for about four years and had the opportunity to live in the dorms which opened many opportunities in my academic journey. AWC is considered to have a excellent rate of graduates and most students are first generation which means they are the first in their family to obtain higher education. I recommend upcoming students to be highly involved within the college, have excellent communication, participate in extracurricular activities, but most importantly gain lifelong friends and enjoy your journey at Arizona Western College.

It does not have alot of programs such as medical programs, engineering, and so on. The campus is not that safe there are always pictures of people to look out for to try to be safe. The campus food seems to be the same each time. They should definitely also put in more hard work to investing into sports as well by adding Tennis and a Swimming team. The professors are not too invested into their jobs when students have questions some professors do not even answer even if it is through email or in person they dodge the questions asked by the students and alumni.

I really enjoy taking classes here. Some of the professors are easy to contact but some don't answer your email. I say to search up the professor on rate my professor so you can get an idea of what professor to choose from. It has been peaceful here.

Arizona Western makes me feel safe to go to school here! I enjoy any and all opportunities that are available that come my way. I recommend going to AWC, especially since its close to home for me and I’m adjusting to being back stateside since living overseas for high school. It’s a good community college to go to and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Well, for me this is an easy question, because i am Mexican,American and something that I would really like if I was back in time is know better english. I know I can speak, write and read very well now but, back then it was something very hard for me. Today I am proud of me because i can dominate english pretty good. So, something that I would like to do was been in US, schools instead of Mexico. But this is not all, I have something else that I would like to be ding if I went back and it was participate more in extracurricular activities because I think that was something that it would help out with my development as student. Instead of that, I think I was a good student.

I think that something that recognize AWC from others schools is that education that they offers you and the acknowledge of the teachers; when they are giving a class. 7. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about my current school is that it shares the same campus with another college. The two colleges that are on campus are Arizona western College, and Northern Arizona University. This makes it different because there are different educational and maturity levels walking around. Another bad thing about my school is that there are hardly any clubs to get involved in and they don?t have sorority rows and or fraternity rows. So the college experience is not the same as if I was in a big city.

  8. What kind of person should attend this school?

The type of person to attend this school is those how like quite and those who are not looking for the college campus life. Being that this campus has two colleges at the same location, a lot of the students keep to themselves and or the friends they started college with. There is not a lot of opportunity for meeting new people. No social events at all.

  9. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

One great thing about a community college is the size of the classrooms. Friends that are attending Universities complain about how many students are in each of their classes. Not being able to concentrate, participate, and even perform as great as one would with small number classroom. I believe with there being a small number of students the professor will be able to put a great input on the students academic progress and also if he/she is having problems with the information which is being taught at the time. I have yet to experience a classroom at a University.
