Overall, I would say that Paradise Valley Community College is an excellent choice for a community college. I have been attending this college for several years now, and I have been able to take a few classes around the campus. I'm working towards an associate's degree in science with an emphasis in biological science, but the artistic life on campus is very much alive. Several plays are held throughout the year, and some orchestra events on and around the campus. The student life is very friendly and welcoming to newcomers, and while there aren't too many degree programs, it does offer a lot for a community college.

It's your typical community college. Quiet, safe, and dependable. The food is good for a good price. There are tons of clubs and activities you can do and be apart of. Lots of people in the cafeteria to talk to and get to know. The professors are nice and available with office hours. The school's websites and resources are good aswell.

I believe Paradise Valley Community College made me into the woman I am today. I took many classes and got to learn so much from my teachers. The environment made me feel comfortable and safe throughout my 4 years here. I strongly believe community college is the best choice for affordable college. All faculty members were very helpful and always there to assist you with any problems. PVCC made a strong impact on my life and put me on the right path to become the best version of me.

  6. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I had know before I came to my school was that the max amount of credits I could take at a semester is 19. If you are trying to get done in two years remember that some classes are worth four of five credits instead of the regular three. Talk to an advisor.

The school is unique because the community college is linked with other community colleges in the county, so even if Paradise Valley isn't offering a class I need when I need it I can go to another college in the area and the credits all count towards the same program without having to transfer credits between schools.

  10. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

I love the fact that the minute I enter the classrooms at PVCC, the professors reassure me that attending a community college after high school isn't a dumb choice. I was an Honor student all through my high school career, and I constantly feared attending a community college would label me "not good enough" or "not attending a REAL college". I was completely wrong. During my 2 years at PVCC, I have had the honor of working with highly intelligent professors in an intimate setting in which I had a name, and not just an ID number.

  11. Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.

Paradise Valley Community College is a pretty small college. It is very welcoming and not overwhelming in the least. All of the teachers are very outgoing and nice, unless you get on their bad side. The students range from just out of high school to sixty years old. You meet a wide range of people and become friends with people you would never think of even talking to. It is a great experience and saves a bunch of money when going to college. I strongly recommend it.

  14. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

For me, I never really got into much on campus, I did what I needed to get a good grade and worked to pay for school. I can say that I have met a lot of good people in my classes, many of those people coming from my science classes. I feel as if the science department has some of the most intellectual people throughout the school. Many of my friends have goals and are determined to make them happen the same way that I am. It helps too that we most nearly all want to go into Health and helping people. So for us, instead of drinking on Saturday nights, we hike and go to the gym, or we will go out and talk. We may not be the best to go out and "party" with but we know how to have our own fun. We still drive hours upon hours just to see the stars, hike, or visit some place new. We may even be NPC competitors without anyone knowing. The best part about my friends and me, is that we do not act like anyone, we are ourselves and are proud to be us.
