So far, I have goteen many thing out of my college experience. One main thing is that I have been learning to deal with new people, and accept them for who they are. Another thing is that I have been learning to think more critically for many different problems. One last thing that I have gotten out of my experience is fun. It is weird to say, but this time of my life is really fun, and I don't want to let it pass right by without even experiencing it.

The main thing I have gotten is an education. Education these days is so valuable, I can't even begin to list all the ways. I only hope I can continue to attend to recieve a degree.

So far the best thing that has come out of my college experience has been a growing understanding of who I am. I am very glad to have attended a large university on the other side of the country from where my parents live because the oppertunities I have had here are much better than anything I could have found back home. The number of clubs here that you can join is so large that I knew there would be something for me, and there definitely has been. The vast majority of the people here on campus are willing to help you find what you are looking for, from the factulty and staff to the community assistants you can't help but have someone to help you through the tough transition process. However, being on a campus this large means that if you want help or guidance from someone you have to be the one to go and ask for it, and this has really helped me to step out of my shell and grow as a person. My confidence in what my plans are and who I am has most definitely been boosted by attending Arizona State.

Before I attended college I was very selfconscious about myself and hesitant when it came to talking to new people. Now that I have begun college I am starting to find myself and I am breaking down the walls I had put up before. College has brought out my self confidence and my courage to start conversations amongst my peers without feeling reluctant. I am gaining so much from my college experience, because I chose to make the most of it. Now is the time where I am growing into the adult I wish to become, and I feel as though college is the best place for me to make these changes. Attending college is giving me so much insight to a succesful future and I intend to make the most out of this valuable experience given to me.

My mother (who was unable to finish grade school) imprinted the importance of an education into my brain. I always knew that I HAD to go to college. However, it wasn’t until I attended college that I realized how much I wanted to attend! The diversity of people (both students and professors) is so incredible that you can learn copious amounts without ever setting foot in a classroom. And once you so enter a classroom you meet encounter professionals that know their area of study and are interested in sharing it with you and watching you succeed. I could have easily taken all my classes online but I’d be missing a key part in my education. Attending college is essential to me because it has shown me the value of having educated peers that motivate you to keep progressing. ASU has taught me that, with a bit of dedication and ingenuity, one can make a career out of a topic they are passionate about.

Attending college has been a lifelong dream. Arizona State University has granted my dream and my parents dream to see me attend a university and be the first in the family to do so. Arizona State University has opened the door to many possibilites and has enrichened my academic life. I have met many people from walks of life and have gained from those experiences in a positive way. Proffesors as well as students have encouraged me to continue persuing my dream of graduating in Journalism and to continue expanding my knowledge by educating myself beyond graduation. Although, the institution I attend isn't on the top 10 best universities list, I value being a student at Arizona State University very much. I am thankful to be attending a university because there are many people who would give anything to be granted this privilidge and for a circumstance they are not able to attend. Coming from a low income family, knowing what it's like to make ends meet, having my parents help me with my education costs, makes me value my education more than anything. ASU has given me knowledge, power, and courage to grow and better the world.

Attending ASU and being apart of the culture here has been, so far, a very valuable experience. I've attended two summer programs, one for Native Americans called the Native American Summer Institute, and another that offers 7 college credits while introducing you to college life called, Summer Bridge. My classes for the fall are what I wanted and I have attended various campus get togethers that encourage one to join organizations and clubs while giving me the opportunity to meet new people. My experience at ASU so far has been very valuable, and I know the years to come will be too.

I have gained a lot of personal strengths from my experience on the ASU Tempe campus such as time management skills, a strong sense of independence, as well as a better sense of judgement. College is much different from high school in the sense that you have much more free time that you have to spend responsibly. I think it was very important to learn how to balance that time between school, work and fun because it will set you up for success in life after school where you are obligated to budget all of your time. I also became more independent as a result of my college experience because I moved on campus away from home. I had nobody telling me what to do and when to do it, I had to figure it out all on my own. That made me a stronger person. I developed better judgement while living around students making irresponsible choices because when you are surrounded by bad examples, it is hard to succeed if you lackbetter judgement. My college experience thus far has helped me mature immensely.

The most valuble aspect of attending a four year institution comes from carving a way to think about and view the world. Critical thinking skills are not something that can be taught from a book in a single course; rather these skills are hatched from a broad respresentation of all dynamics in education. In learning from many disciplins and learning to integrate these many disciplins, four year institutions are teaching us to be able to view the world in a compassionate and thoughtful light. There is little that can compare with not only understanding the reasoning behind a prognosis or expected outcome, but with being able to justify the actions behind. This gives the student/learner so much more compasion and leads to creation of a better world. Knowledge is not only power, but a tool to insight and understanding of how our world is and what we can do to help it.

I'm an out-of-state student from California and was please to be accepted into the University of my dreams (Arizona State University), because my goal was the apply for the Walter Cronkite School. I have been a full time student at ASU since an incoming freshman for Fall '08- Spring '10. I landed a job in the Arizona State Athletics Department. My job description was giving tours of the department for prospective football recruits and their families, answering the football phone doing secretarial work, also filling football tapes, and helping to set up football banquets. This professional job really helped me promote SunDevil pride to students all over campus.
I have always carried a large load of classes (17 credits) and have never gotten a cumulative GPA lower than 2.96. I was very pleased that my second year at ASU because I have received my goal of a 3.0 cumulative GPA to apply for the Walter Cronkite School, and was admitted. I’m so thrilled to be apart of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism because I know with knowledge this school will give me I can fulfill my goals of becoming a world class journalist.
