I have gotten so much knowledge about life in general from my college. I've gained friendships and irrevocable bonds with people of various ages and backgrounds. I've been able to network and connect with people who are as excited about thier major as I am. Being able to think critically is a skilled I've gained. I've realized that, despite what people say about college staff and professors, I am surrounded by a group of instructors and staff that really want me to have a ridiculous amount of success! A good since of pride in my school is another thing i've gained! Many people feel that a community college education is "below standard", but I have gained limitless opportunities from my school, which is a community college. Being able to work and study along with those adults who have had experiences in the "real world" better prepares me for the time when I step outside my college's walls, and trade study for work. Yet, the most imporatant thing I've gotten from Bladen Community College is the confidence and the drive to be a world changer and move, triumphantly, towards the future.

My college experience has not only allowed me to grow in knowledge, but also personally. Since ASU is quite large, it has allowed me to get a firm grasp on how the "real world" will be for me. In order to shine in a large mass of stars, I need to be like the moon. Iniative and innovation are necessary in order to make an impact in the sky, figuratively speaking. ASU has definately instilled a realistic thought pattern in my mind. However, the statement the impossible is possible is a realistic statement for me. My goal is to find out how I can shine my brightest in order to impact the world in a positive way. I am slightly frightened, but so is everyone else inside. All of those in college are creating a new facet of their being, and the being we create will be sculpt from a fiery knowledge of passion which will impact the world around us in important ways. I will push myself through it all in order to create this being of knowledge which we all yearn for. I will strive to make an impact on the world.

My college experience has taught me a lot about life and how to figure things out for myself. I've met great people of different walks of life that have been helpful to me in ways I wouldn't expect. I've had may experiences that have taught me more about myself and develope as an individual. I've gained independence and strength. College has pushed me further than I thought I could bare at times and I'm thankful for that.

As a writer, the most valuable benefit I've gained from attending Arizona State University's Creative Writing program is that the guidance and experiences I've had there have helped me to better understand myself as a writer and as a reader. I have been challenged to define--for myself and others--my writing aesthetic., a challenge which has always felt impossible to me. Through my experience of reading a range of different writers in class and as homework, and also through my increasing familiarity with the styles of my 15 fellow writers, I have become aware of my style of wrting as well as my goals as a writer.

I am so grateful to be able to say that I am a third year college student. I am currently in the Honors College, which requires great commitment, responsibility, and discipline to keep up with the increased workload while still attending a university. I am currently studying Elementary Education and I will graduate with my bachelor’s degree and also with two minors in Sociology and Family and Human Development. I hope that by building a strong background in child development through these two minors, I will be better prepared to handle any situations I might encounter at my future school. I have interned at local schools and clocked many hours observing and teaching lessons at schools. I hope to someday teach in a lower elementary classroom (Kindergarten through third grade) at a valley school. I feel that, through my course work, internships in elementary classrooms, and work at a local elementary school, I will be well-equipped to handle my own classroom, which is why I feel that my college experience has been so valuable. College has prepared me for my future and I have only been reassured along the way that I will be a successful teacher.

The biggest quality I have gained from my college experience is responsibilty. I have learned that I I have to continue to be responsible with my time, school work, as well as in my relationships with other people. Responsibility is tightly strung together with trust so with me being able to remain responsible I keep and gain trust.

My college experience so far has been incredible. Arizona State University is everything that I look for in a college. The possibilities are endless with all of the clubs, activities, and people that this campus has to offer. I have personally gotten involved in the intramural department at ASU. I am so grateful that I found the perfect on campus job for me. I referee intramural sports and am on the leadership staff of the intramural program. The skills that I use everyday at work are ones that will go a long way in the business world. I have been trained to deal with arguments in a calm and professional manner and as a result have gained exceptional communication skills. In addition to my job, I have enjoyed my time in the classroom. I am majoring in Business with a concentration in Sustainability. I am excited about my major because it is new, relevant, and nurtures my creative mind. I will be just the second class to graduate with classes from the brand new School of Sustainability and plan on applying these acquired skills to be successful in the business world.

While I found it difficult to adjust to some of the changes from high school to college, I learned a few things about college that I know I will take advantage of in further years on campus. Since I took honors and AP classes before, it was not too much of a difference between the level of difficulty in my classes, but the hardest part was managing my time to do all of my work. You learn some hard things your first semester and I learned that effective time management is the best way to get good grades. But I also learned a crutial part of college is not just getting good grades in classes, but also joining engineering clubs and getting internships to help boost your resume. If you start early, not only does this help prepare you for classes further on, but you also learn to be a better engineer for longer.
