If I could go back in time I would tell myself to never move into the dorm at all. Save the money; live off campus! Also, I would tell myself to take advantage of my sleep schedule because that would be out the window in college! In all honesty I would not want to ruin the surprise and the excitement of college life at ASU by spoiling it for my high-school-senior self. I was prepared academically and personally and I had the time of my life!

I believe I got the most out of my college experience while I was in community college. I feel like college helped me to grow up a lot and to gain my independence. It is much different from being in high school where your teachers are like a second set of parents. In college the teachers want you to succeed but you have to put forth the majority of the effort. There is also less social pressure in college then in high school which makes the learning process simpler, even though the material is more intense. I know that by attending and completing college I have and will learn valuable skills socially, mentally, and academically that will help professionally and personally.

I have learned what it is to be human in my anthropology class. It's more than behavior: it's our bodies, the way we heal, the way we grow, the way we die, the way we move, the way we talk, and what we leave behind when we are gone. I've discovered a passion for physical anthropology, and insight into what I am actually made of.

I received my bachelor's degree and currently am attending graduate school for Rehabilitation Counseling. I intend to work in the field of Rehabilitation counseling when I have finished my Master's degree. Attending college is both good for a person both socially and academically. College environments allow people to come into contact with other people with differing beliefs and ideas which can be very valuable in helping to break down stereotypes. I have attended college because I wanted to further my education as well as the requirements for my chosen profession.

School was always easy for me; I just drifted along, generally unaffected by any classes. That changed when I began my college classes and my teachers deserve a lot of the credit. I found a new passion for learning thanks to one teacher in particular. His enthusiasm stirred up something inside me and I now find it easier than ever to go to school every day. Everything I learn is interrelated and can somehow be applied to the world in which I live. I question everything and am fascinated by the littlest things, almost going back to childhood when I asked, "Why?" all the time. College has opened my eyes to the world outside my small town and also given me the resources to explore it. I am currently a business major but I plan to attend a University where I will pursue an environmental degree. I'm good at business but I love the outdoors and want to make a difference and give back. In conjunction with earning my 4-year degree, I plan on volunteering in the Peace Corps.

Throughout the entirety of high school, a university has always been my first preference and personal goal and ASU has the potential which I desire and I value personally. For the first semester attending ASU has shown my maturity and intelligence among many other memorable memories and experience. I value attending ASU for the reason of self-interest and to accomplish a personal goal of being the first generation in my family to attend a university. The expectations ASU has to offer are well done and can not be mistaken as undoubtly one of the best challenges I wish to overcome. I have matured from high school level to a full-time student and has taught me self-discipline, punctuality and time management. For the entire experience I have received at ASU, I am proud to admit my accomplishments of personal goals such as; reading more, studying subjects of chemistry and biology. To attend ASU is most awarding to myself, my colleagues, and those close to me.

The experiences I had while attending Arizona State University were invaluable.

I have only been in college for one semester at ASU but I have thoroughly enjoyed that experience. What I've noticed right away is that there is so much to do at ASU both on and off campus. For instance, in one semester I was able to find and on-campus job, join the ASU Bowling Team, and compete in several intramural sports. I'm also in Barrett, The Honors College on campus and a regular attendee at an on-campus church. Through these opportunities I've been able to meet a lot of new people and make connections with faculty as well. It's valuable because these connections that I make now can reap major rewards later on in my education and career. The classes themselves are extremely valuable as well. My Honors College classes are small class sizes that allow me to get to know the professor and receive hands on experience. Overall my experience so far has been very rewarding and I expect my future at ASU and beyond to reflect that.

I have completed one semester of college here at ASU as a Civil Engineering major with a 3.79 cumulative GPA. Last semester was a great experience for me personally because it taught me the importance of managing my time efficiently so that I can keep up with and ultimately succeed in my engineering course curriculum. Time management is not only an important skill in college but in life as well. As an aspiring Civil Engineer, I realize that managing my time efficiently while being able to think critically to solve complex problems is crucial. For this reason, attending college here at Arizona State University for Civil Engineering has been invaluable. From my own personal experience as well as those of engineering upperclassmen here at ASU, I have come to realize that the curriculum and professors prepare aspiring engineers like myself well for the work force because of how well students are challenged to think critically and work together to solve complex problems. These skills are stressed heavily because engineers need them to be successful in their profession. Moreover, learning the value of time management, thinking critically, and working well with others has made attending college invaluable for me.

What have I gotten out of my college experience? A lot more than I would have if I didn't live on campus. I learned to manage time and to live independently while cooperating with a roommate. I found interesting events and places, conferences, and clubs. I found out how careless and how caring some people can be. I managed to master riding the bike through crowds, and to somehow get to class on time when I overslept. But most of all, I value college for the educational atmosphere it provides where you know there will always be people who take learning seriously and will help you or share with you the progress to that dream career.
