I have gotten all that I could out of my college experience so far. I maintain over a 3.0 each semester and I have built a relationship with a couple of my professors, which help me with references in the future. Also while maintaining good grades, I have joined a sorority on campus and thus participate in community service on and off campus. It has been valuable attending this school because I feel like I am learning a lot that is furhter helping me towards my ideal career path. I am being taught different accounting classes, economics classes, social classes, and computer classes that will thus help me in the future to whatever path I choose.

Attending college has motivated me to become an individual that embodies leadership, service, and education. Through my college experience, I have learned the importance of embracing diversity and accepting those who are different by coordinating campaigns that promote equality, social justice, and acceptance. I became more involved in my community by participating in social events, such as organzing food drives, tutoring students in mathematics at a local high school, and executing beautification projects in my neighborhood. Because of this involvement, I have also built invaluable social connections with different sectors of my community, i.e. schools, hospitals, food banks, homeless shelters, etc. All of these experiences in turn have made me the civil and visionary leader I am today. They have prepared with the skills and knowledge to be not only successful in future endeavors, but in life as well. My college experience has been valuable in that it gave me the encouragement and reason to become a passionate individual devoted to activism, altruism, and social service, allowing me to better myself both as a student and citizen.

My experience at West Los Angeles College has been an educational one. I chose to return back to school after suffering a catastrophic injury late in life. Once class began, I conclued I was about to start a new life. I found a comfort zone in the school library, where I recieved a great deal of tutoring and support from staff. Although I am somewhat older than the average students, age was not an issure when it came to study groups. I have gained knowledge in subject errors I never considered to be of use in everyday life. My experience in college has been enligtening; it has given me the opportunity to explore other avenues for survival, through education. As a student I have learned there are endless resources and support on campus that can guide one to sucess. Attending college is a memorable experience that offers a degree for success no one can ever take away from you.

I have learned to appreciate an education. I used to think it was just a piece of paper. I enjoy my classes and am doing well in each one. I am able to relate many subjects to eachother. I am sending a message to my kids that it is never too late to go after your dreams and to be successful. I am also to take time to study with my kids and set a good example of how to study and how to really apply oneself to your goals. Attending school at my age has given me many opportunities to meet people of all ages and cultures. I have also been able to apply some of my education by volunteering and testing the waters to see if this is what I want to do. I am realizing that my choice to go to school to get a teaching credential is really going to be worth it because I am good with kids and I will be so much happier when I am able to work with them on my own.

How could I describe the great experiences I've been getting from my college. My intelligence has really increased in just one semester and I hope to continue till the last day of senior year. Foremost, to me, college is considered one of the most important parts of my life. Knowing that my school is one of the most trusted school in the U.S. inspires me to be more spirited and love my school.

I believe my experiences can contribute to this honorable scholarship. It will achieve my goals significantly. By being awarded this scholarship, it will be easier to get a better career. I will be able to do things that I could have never imagined. My religion has impacted the way I view life. I am great communicating and can bring my thoughts. My situation (16 surgeries) can bring a new way of how people view life. Since I’ve been so fortunate, I want to help others who haven't had the same opportunities as me. I believe everyone have the same chance as me. His/her unfortunate circumstance shouldn't be counted against him/her. Hopefully in my lifetime, the poverty rate will go down. Once I get degree at UC Davis, this will give opportunities (e.g. jobs, network connections) that I would haven't otherwise. I want maximum this to the greatest potential. It would shameful to throw away. Despite having 16 surgeries over the last five-and-a-half years, I know many other people in this country and around the world are going through much more worse experiences. They need more assistance than me.

My biggest gain from my college experience was maturity.

I've gotten many things out of my college experience. It has given my brain the power to think outside of the box. Before I entered college, I was only thinking inside the box. With my college education, I feel that I am able to think more analtical and have more intelligent conversations than previously in my past.

In my one and a half years of college so far I have learned serveral life lessons that I will carry with me. College is not only a great place to make new friends and further your education, but it is also a place where you experience life in all of its forms. College is valuable to attend because of the value placed in a college degree. Additionally, college is valuable to me because when I graduate I will become a seconds lieutenant in the U.S. Army and go on to serve my country.
