All of my professors know my name, and the most favorit class was IT 245 Web Designing, I study daily and in class we all participate and interact with the professor and other peers. yes some of us dowe talk alot about our courses and studies more than anything else, the student works together and are all on one accord, and yes some student are competitive, one class that I find very unique is the php and mysql, it is really a learning experience as well as challenging. I am majoring in IT Professional science and Technology, my major focus is Web development, whenever we seem to have a problem with one of the assignment the professor will set up an appointment and we will have a one on one, students can also go to the tech center for assistance. I find that the academic requirements are excellent and challenging, however, my education at kaplan University I more so towards getting a degree and employment in the workforce.

Kaplan University off es academics in Health science,Information technology, business adminstration, law enforcement, and legal studies. I am now in the advanced start bBachelors of Scien in Information Technology with a focus on programming. We just started a new term and my professors have both made the effort in seminar on learning to pronounce my name. The way it is spelled is different from the way I pronounce it. The two classes I am taking this semester or SQL structured Queery language and management of information systems. In the structured queery language class we will learn how to build a database using microsoft's SQL server express. In the other class we lear management techniques dealing with databases used by business. Participation in class is manadatory. If we show up to seminar and never answer a question while we are in there then points will be deducted. We have discussion boards where there will be one to two question each week are are required to answer the question with no less than 100 to 200 words then we are recquired to coment to what two other students have said. All three postings have to be done on three different days. It does not count extra if you post more than recquired but it does count off points if you do nt make your three postings each week. Students do talk to each other outside of class . I have a lady I met three semesters ago that we talk every day using skype. She lives in Vegas and I live in Alabama. We get together and brainstorm if one or the other is having problems in class . I have found that most students at Kaplan are more than willing to help each other. I believe the most unique class I have taken at Kaplan was during my Assocate's degree where we learned how to use an airlines reservation center and how to read the codes printed up on a airline ticket. I do not spend time with professors outside of class but if I have a question I can email them and they will get back to me in a short amount of time. I belkieve that the academic requirements are fair and just. Some classes may seem hard but we are college students and not highschool students. If a student really wants to suceed at Kaplan they will rather they are 18 or 80.I was out of school for thirty years before coming to Kaplan and I have been able to keep a A and B grade average during my time here. I believe that at Kaplan they are geared toward both learning and preparing a student to get a job. They offer an externship in the Information Technolgy field and we can either find a company we want to work with on our own or we can apply for one of the positions they have open. If we choose the externship we are required to put in 10 hours of work a week at the company and 100 hours of class work during the 10 week course. It is a very good program and I am looking forward to taking the externship.

The academics here at Kaplan can be much different than what you receive at a regular university, but I think that the way the professors teach the subject and show the pride that the have for that subject definately encourages us to strive for more and achieve more through the education. Don't get me wrong there are your normal papers, weekly class sessions, midterm assignments too.. I have done group projects which I thought was very intereseting... I have grown some much academically that even my family and friends view me differently..

All of the professors I have had so far have remembered my name. I go by a different name other than what is on my birth certificate. All of them have made the effort to actually remember that. I have been so impressed by this. I have had many intelligent conversations with other students in my classes outside the classroom. I am currently in the Paralegal Studies program and I love all of my classes. When I call to talk to my advisors in the Legal Studies program, all of them have been more than helpful. The education that I am receiving in this degree is definitely geared at getting me ready for this field.

Starting answering!Professors certainly know whom you are as well as where you are from. I must admit most of my Favorite classes where early on however I do like Global Business. Students study when they want however many students will start online study groups. For me personally I am on here every day in making the most this opportunity. Many students are knowledgeable however, a few do lack some experience. I have learned a lot from the instructors as well as other students over past few years. The most Unique class was - Art and Humanities: Twentieth Century and Beyond! This course was unique for a business student nevertheless one I enjoyed immensely. The school academic program is challenging but rewarding. As much as I enjoy it, I must say I am going more for financial reasons.

The academics have been great. Instructors are available and willing to help you outside of the class, should you have a question regarding what is being studied. Also, I came to Kaplan with a Bachelors degree from another university and with Kaplans quick start program, I was able to transfer about half of what was needed for my Kaplan bachelors degree (healthcare administration) to make the length of time that was spent working towards my degree shorter.

Considering the fact that many of the professors with this school have several classes they are working on per day, professors don't tend to know you personally unless your make a valiant effort to get their attention. You want to really make sure you interact during seminars and complete outstanding work during the unit otherwise it doesn't really get your professors attention. I believe that some students can be competitive but considering that we don't see everyone's grades there's really no way to be competitive in these types of classes. The school is very goal oriented when it comes to signing up for classes and continuing your education, and they want to make sure that you have the right resources to obtain a job in your field after the fact. I for one enjoyed the resume/portfolio building class because I learned several different techniques to answering interview questions, building a resume, and ultimately building my portfolio so that employers would be able to pick mine out from the crowd. I believe this school is very job oriented especially in today's economy they want you to do your best and be your best and they push you to obtain that goal.

Classes are small and the discussion boards make sure you get to know your classmates and professors well and they get to know you well. I loved all my classes but mostly my honors classes. You get out of these classes what you put into them.

Since its online you would think it would just be you and an e mail back and forth to a "Professor". Kaplan has a designed class room that helps you to interact with your professor and fellow students on a daily basis. They have what is called a discussion board. Every week there is a new topic to talk about with your fellow comments. The discussion board is just like a thread that you would post to. Once a week you have to attend what is called a seminar. In seminar you listen to your professor discuss the weeks topic. You can also interact with the entire class at this time as well but only the professor can speak. All students can communicate with the professor and other classmates on a chat room screen that is tied in with the seminar. For example if you have a question you just type it into the chat and the professor will respond by speaking and other students will respond by typing back in the chat. I have only had one professor I was not crazy about. All of my other professors have been amazing. Very interesting people. Most of them teach on the side and have jobs in the field that I am entering into. So they give you real life experiences to teach you about your field. Homework is given as well along with reading. All the reading is an e book that Kaplan provides you with. They also provide you with a few reference books that are hard cover. All classes are 10 weeks long. And you only have to attend 1 seminar per week for 1 hour. I work a few hours a day everyday on school work and can complete everything that needs to be done for two classes. I love how everything is set up for this school when it comes to getting your learning on!! =0)
