What are the academics like at Kaplan University-Hagerstown Campus?

Kimberly

I am majoring in psychology- child development. I was worried about taking online classes, but the teachers and other students are very involved. Each week it is required that we have a class discussion, and we "meet" once a week for an online seminar/lecture. There are a lot of activities for students of all majors, and there are a lot of clubs you can be involved in. The school does offer an employment service, and a mentoring service for the psychology club.

Online higher education can be challenging for some however, Kaplan University excels at providing the student with professors that go beyond the teaching experience. They strive to teach and guide the student in ways that they can excel in their studies. Kaplan's professors encourage students to participate and hold intellectual conversations as they learn and grow together. The academics are reasonable and geared toward helping the student's to acheive at their career goals.

Yes, my professors know my name. My favorite class was Introduction to Psychology. My least favorite is Anatomy and Physiology II. I would say many of the students study between 3-4 days a week. Class participation is very common when attending an online school Yes, some students do have intellectual conversations outside of class. They exchange email, face book, aim, and phone numbers. There are some very competitive students that attend an online education also. The most unique class that I have taken was Anatomy and Physiology online. My major is human services minoring in nursing. I do spend time with emails outside of class with my professors letting them know how I am doing on my journey of success. The education at this school is geared up toward getting a job, they have workshops to prepare you for interviews, writing resumes, and interviewing.

Professor take notice of me in my work, and I know and certain that other student too. Student help each other quite well, like in any other University there are those who stay with them self.

The academics at my school are wonderful. All of the professors take the time to ask about you in the first week and tells you about them so that you have a foundation. I am a psychology major and love every minute of it. I could not ask for assignments more based on what you actually need to know in the career field.

The academics are great. This school curriculum was well thought out for each student needs and wants. My first academic class was to prepare me for my future classes. I don't think you get this special program at any other school. That class has helped me tremendously!

I have had great success in academics. The Professors call you by your name when you are communicating with them through your seminars, DBs, and e-mails. My favorite class so far would have to be Interpersonal Communications. This class is explaining mnay ways of communication and how aand what we should consider when communicating with people. My least favorite class was Math. I am not very good with numbers. I don't know about other students but I study at least three times a week. You do have opportunities to have study groups. Class participation is very common. The most unique class I have taken is Honors, Social Perspectives of Death and Dying. My major is Early Childhood Development. The school's academic requirements are fair and accessible. Kaplan University wants your learning to coincide with you getting a job in your area of study. They also have job listings which they e-mail to you in your area.

The academics at Kaplan are great. Teachers care about how the students do with there academics, I liked all of my classes other than math, but that is because I am not a fan of math. The criminal justice degree at kaplan is very good, I am one class away from graduating and with the experience I have from Kaplan I am in the middle of becoming a State Police Officer.

Starting answering!I am working toward my Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness at Kaplan University. I started August 2009 and will be gradating early 2013. Currently, I am in three honor groups and have been able to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.97. Overall, my favorite classes pertain to nutrition, alternative medicine, stress management, and exercise. These are all the areas I have a strong passion for and at the end of the 10 weeks I feel I truly have learned a great deal and will be properly prepared once I graduate. However, there are always classes we don’t like and for me it was math. Not for any particular reason either. Moreover, attending an online University is much different than attending a University campus. I do feel a connection with all of my professor and even though my name is attached to everything I submit I get a sense they truly are getting to know me. Weekly we have a discussion board that allows the class and Professor to interact and talk about the week’s assignment. Furthermore, even though we do not have to attend a class we do have an online class that is interactive and I think better! The classes are smaller and you get time to ask the questions and interact with everyone in your class. Yes, I do feel that the education I am getting will gear me toward getting a job in health and wellness. I am putting my education and personal experience to work right now and starting the process to become a Weight Watchers Leader! I have had struggles with my own weight and now with my education from Kaplan University to back me up I will have the necessary tool to help others in achieving optimum health!
