I am a political science major. I have had a very traditional set of classes that need to be taken to earn my degree. Being part of the Legal Studies school, I have had many wonderful classes and have been taught by some amazing lawyers. At the current time, I am in my political science major requirements. These courses are geared towards what I want to do with my degree more than I ever thought they could be. I also have terrific political scientists teaching the courses. I am looking forward to the year to come. I am challenged more every day!

Kaplan offers several types of online classes that are all accredited; from Certificates to Associates to Bachelors Degrees. They also offer Masters Degrees, but you can not get licensed in any of those programs unless you complete intership hours, which Kaplan is unable to provide unless you go into the Nursing Program at their Fort Lauderdale Florida Campus. Professors do end up learning your name, but to be fair they aren't likely to remember you after you've left the class (unless you stay in contact with them and you have that option). Being a student in an Undergrad program; Psychology; I can tell you that after a while classes become "repetitive" in nature and boredom can ensue. I'm not sure how other classes are as I personally transferred into Kaplan with 2 years worth of credits. There are also some students that you wish you could reach through the screen and slap around because of their personal attacks on your person when making responses on the discussion boards for classes. There have been times that professor's have had to intervene and send emails to all parties involved warning them to stop or be booted from the class. There are students from Kaplan that have gotten jobs with their degree's with major corporations (Apple), so the possibility is only limited by your desire and understanding in your field as to whether or not you get a job that is suitable to your needs.

Well, as I said before, this school, unlike where I came from is geared towards teaching what you came to learn. It's all about getting you ready for your goals whatever they may be. It's less about things like ancient history or astronomy unless that's where you're going. If learning more about your chosen profession is important to you, then I highly recommend Kaplan. The staff and the professors are highly knowledgeable and go out of their way to help.

Each class has one online seminar that is available at a time that works based on your needs. There is a discussion question that gets answered weekly and the occasional paper that creeps in on you. The Professors at Kaplan deal with real world scenarios and are usually an expert in the field you are studying.
