All of my professors know my name, and the most favorit class was IT 245 Web Designing, I study daily and in class we all participate and interact with the professor and other peers. yes some of us dowe talk alot about our courses and studies more than anything else, the student works together and are all on one accord with ne another, and yes some student are competitive, one class that I find very unique is the php and mysql it is really a learning experience as well as challenging. I am majoring in IT Professional science and Technology, my major focus is Web development, whenever we seem to have a problem with one of the assignment the professor will set up an appointment and we will have a one on one, students can also go to the tech center for assistance. I find that the academic requirements are excellent and challenging, however, my education at kaplan University I more so towards getting a degree and employment in the workforce.

Professors know your names by heart after the first sessions of the class. I have not had a least favourite class thus far because I am loving the set up of all my classes. Professors are so helpful.

Thinking that I might attend an online university, I thought that it would be easy as it would be hard to professors to validate that you are learning. However, with Kaplan, we are required to post to discussion boards, complete projects, and attend seminars. Sometimes, we have been required to post 9 times at 150 words per post, answer 15 essay questions from the text that we were reading, and complete a team project that consisted of a 12-15 page report. I discovered quickly that while it is online, it was not easy. Having this much work and making sure that you are completing it and earning high grades guarantees that you will learn the course materials.

I would say over all I am pleased with the academics at Kaplan University. The teachers are well educated in the field you are studing. They are great to learn about you and your goals. They have an intrest in making sure you are on track and doing what is needed to pass the class. When you engage in live seminars you are engaged with the teacher and the class. This is agreat time to learn and interact with the students in your class. Kaplan also has many different ways to interact with student through study groups, chat rooms, email, facebook, and twitter. The classes are very informative and so far I have enjoyed all the classes.

I feel that are academics are a perfect fit for the degrees that each individual is going for. Sometimes they can be tough but honestly it's better with a challenge!

Classes last an hour, they are all online in a "chat" like environment, You can hear only the professor speaking however, you can see the comments made by your fellows students. Different professors engage their students differently. Some take online field trips others use power-point slides, etc.

The course normally consists of ten units (lessons) , The unit starts on Wednesday and ends on the following Tuesday. All course is due on that Tuesday (unless the student is allowed accommodations.)
You normally post on the discussion board(s.) three time on the three different days. Your first post answers the discussion question(s) and it normally must be posted by Saturday. The others two have to be replies to two of your classmates
Kaplan students have seminar one a week for each class and and they give you a way to make up the the points if you miss seminar there may also be other tasks you have to do but these vary from class to class.

My most favorite class I have taken so far was Legal Ethics. I loved the material as well as the professor's teaching style. I would have to say that she was one of the most prompt in getting back to you with any questions. My least favorite class so far was Math. I felt as if I had forgotten eveything that I had learned throughout my high school days. The funny thing is that I ended with a 97 in that class. I would say that there is a lot of participation between students. I have learned a lot from my peers through our discussion boards. This is our main form of communication with each other. I feel that the academics are geared toward finding a job, the only thing is with it being online, there are no "real life" requirements. Everything you are learning is just academic.

The professors know everyones name here. They make every effort to get to know each student. The reason they do this is so when or if something happens, the professor knows how to help the student. I remember one time this past may. I had a vacation scheduled for over a year. I was going to be out of the country in Jamaica for a week. Both professors let me have a break on the seminar that week and gave me credit without me having to do a paper. That was the best thing they could have done for me. I was able to go on vacation and not worry about school that week.
I am majoring in criminal justice. All of the professors I have had are currently in the field of criminal justice. Most of them are in police work but they all have a tie to the criminal justice field in some fashion. This makes it very easy to relate to one another.
Kaplan has many webinars free to the students that provide many different types of information. Some are focused on career development after graduation and others on time management. All of the webinars are informative and can be very useful if you have the time to attend them online.

The one thing at Kaplan I did notice is that the professers did indeed know the students name(s). My most favorite class would have been Associates Capstone for Human Services, The professer made it full of fun facts, he treated us with much respect . It's sad to leave the calss yet a wondeful feeling as this means Graduation! My least liked class at Kaplan would be Criminal Law for Criminal Justice, mainly due to the legal definitions and hard course material; however it was not dredded it was more like my own self- awareness and struggles. Our class had a lot of participation, that's also what made online courses run smoothly. My most unique class would be Survey of Mathematics, I struggled with math in grade school and yet through this professer I was able to not only learn the mathbut excel. I will be graduating with an Associate of Applied Science in Human Services This Novemebr 29th, 2011. I have already registered for my Advanced Start Bachelor of Science in Human Services - Child and Family Welfare which starts 12/7/2011. I have not had the pleasure of personally meeting any of my professers being I attend online. The school's academic requirements seem to be fitting for the courses as structured well. I believed this school is geared towards learning as well as job placement.
