There are things to do around campus for everyone. If you like to party, there will be parties for you to attend, if you don't like to party, there are alot of other things to do as well like go to the movies and there are also events on the campus all the time like guest speakers, walk around the town/campus with your friends, etc.

IUP has great activities, something usually going on academically every night, maybe not what your interested in but its offered. Partys happen 24/7 if you want you can drink everyday its not a problem. Home coming is something every person experience on their life. Frats and Sororities... some are ok... some are tool bags just gotta find one that is alright.

Football and marching band are competitive to get on and popular to watch.
Students in my dorm, the Honors College/Whitmyre dorm, were very interactive and social, especially because we took classes together. Many dorms were open and there's a very open atmosphere.
I was part of the GRIP ministry on campus. This Methodist group polled the campus when they got started (abt 2 yrs ago) and created this program to work with the needs of college students. They have a late contemporary service (11:45 am on Sundays), providing hands-on experiences with the Bible and breakfast to boot. They also do fun activities.
Guest speakers and campus-wide events are commonplace. While some are more interesting than others, usually they are well attended.
There is a significant amount of partying in the sororities and fraternities, so much so that IUP has implemented an alcohol policy, where people can't have any alcohol in the dorms whatsoever - not even a empty can. It's strictly enforced, which helps with on-campus partying, but there are some nights you don't want to go out if there's a popular event going on.

I am a very envolved student. I'm in 4 music ensembles, Sigma Alpha Iota, Grip, PCMEA, and PSEA. I encourage everyone to be envolved in some sort of group. It help you meet other people and feel more at home.

There are many clubs and organizations at IUP. If you have the time, I think it would be very beneficial to get involved with at least one of them. Football is the most popular athletic event to attend at IUP and the games are always fun. Frats and sororities are definitely a part of IUP, but they are not everything. Its ok if you arent in one, nobody is going to think any less of you. Parties are frequent on the weekends, but there are other things to do like hit up the mall or relax in your dorm room and watch movies with friends.

There is a lot of greek life, but you don't have to join to take part in their fun.
There's a cheap theatre on main st.
Athletics need a boost.
The new suites have made kids less social, it seems.
A lot of people travel to PSU or Pittsburg on weekends.

Homecoming is HUGE

Dorms are a big part of getting to know people. Leaving your door open helps you to find out who is living on your floor and you may even make some new friends.
