Emerson College Top Questions

Is the stereotype of students at Emerson College accurate?

Brittany

They are true but definitely not everyone is like that, you can definitely find a variety of others.

Meg

We do have a lot of artistic people and are very open-minded, but we're most definitely not freaks. Some people dress funky, others dress drab, the truth is that we are just accepting of all types. The students and teachers at Emerson tend not to judge based on looks, and that is one of Emerson's strong points.

Arielle

a lot of the time yes, but that doesn't change the fact that they are all really nice, expressive, and creative people

Angela

There is a large gay population, and many of them act like gay stereotypes. We have a good theater program, but there are plenty of kids who aren't into theater, too.

Katie

Yes, for the most part. Though, when you're in this environment you don't realize how much it is a very overwhelmingly different place. Until, of course, you leave and everyone reminds you. The students also seem lazy until inspired. In that, they'll work hours beyond a normal student if they're passionate. Otherwise, it's lazy time for drinks. There's no time or effort for boredom.

Alex

well, not all emerson students smoke cigarettes or anything because they are in the theatre programs. also, we do have sports and i think we made a good turn out this year. but there is a very low number of available guys to my standards.

Megan

Haha, yeah. But in a mostly endearing way.

Katie

artsy, yea. I mean it is a liberal arts college. Some students can seem elitist or snobby (the stereotypical long island brats) but its very easy to find a crowd to fit in with. there is a lot of gay but if its not your thing it is not prominent enough to bother you, unless you're in theatre. Stoners... well it depends on the group. Living across from the common, pot is very easy to get but again, if its not your thing, you dont have to deal with it.
