Emerson College Top Questions

Is the stereotype of students at Emerson College accurate?

Megan

I mean, all stereotypes come from somewhere. I'd say they're about 20{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} accurate, and 80{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} inaccurate.

Cameron

Absolutely not. There is such a wide range of creativity at Emerson. But there are a great mix of people here who are athletes, journalists, marketing majors, and people who have their focus on law school or marketing firms and not broadway. Emerson has the best campus in New England, in my opinion. We are on the corner of the Boston Common where the real estate is not cheap. I have heard so many students from other schools complain that there is never anything to do at their school because the campus is segregated from the rest of the world. That is impossible at Emerson. You can walk out your door and be in the center of a major city. Boston is a safe place to walk around too, which is a bonus.

Peter

Yes.

Rachel

It depends. Many times not though.

Amanda

Somewhat but there are a lot of hard working passionate students.

Harper

There are always people who are going to fit into those categories, but for the most part as Emerson has expanded its student population, this has changed. There are more straight males at Emerson (mostly in marketing, film and journalism), theater kids are a little crazy but mostly just loud, and the film students are really into their art, which isn't such a bad thing.

Rosie

A lot of people wear tight pants; no one likes the pretentious people because they are pretentious, and I don't smoke nor did I audition for NYU. There are various groups but we all intermingle. And there are tons of hipsters.

Susan

Pink hair not so much, but the other ones sure. Again, these students are the most visible to the public, since they are the ones hanging outside the buildings

Missy

Of course there is no stereotype that is universally accurate. However, I'd say most Emerson students are guilty of at least one of the above stereotypes, and maybe 20{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} are guilty of all of them.

Robin

Most of them are pretty accurate.
