I've gotten more than I expected out of my college experience. I thought it would just be going to classes and studying, but it's so much more. I have met so many different people from all over the world. I grew up here in Laie, Hawaii and haven't traveled very much. It was nice to even meet people from the mainland US. I am able to share my talents with them by showing them my home.
It has been valuable to attend classes and due to the small class sizes my professors know who I am and can answer any questions I have had. I also can participate in class discussions. My teachers have taught and encouraged me a great deal. They have opened my eyes to see other peoples' points of view and the business world. I'm really interested in investment finance and have opened a online trading account to learn how to trade and hopefully make money. I've already completed 36 credits in less than 9 months and have a GPA of 3.7.

I have grown so much since I've started my college experience here at BYU-Hawaii. I have gained so much confidence because of students and professors who've been encouraging. They make me want to give my opinion on issues and things we talk about in and out of the classroom. I have gained the greatest friends, two wonderful people who've become my sisters. I feel so fortunate to have been able to come to BYUH and I can't wait to be able to see what the rest of my college experience will be like. I love being able to work and study with people who have similar goals as me and with professors who have worked their whole lives to teach students like me about my future career and my passions. I am truly grateful for my college experience I have had thus far. It has been valuable to attend because of the knowledge and relationships I have gained. It has been valuable because of the talents I've been able to help grow and thoughts I've shared. I become more and more amazed each day about the things I gain from attending this university!

It has always been my dream to become a nurse. I have spent a majority of my life taking care of people and it has always made me smile to know that I am making a difference. Going back to school is helping me to reach that goal. Attending school is giving me the knowledge and experience I am going to need to excel in my goal of becoming a nurse. I love being around people who are as goal oriented as I am. It also gives me the communication and interactive skills I need in order to excel.

I received my Bachelor's degree at Brigham Young University-Hawaii in International Business Management. I became proficient in topics such as organizational behavior, marketing, and finance. These skills will assist me in my goals to help our society grow in healthy and sustainable ways. However, I attribute most of my growth to my daily associations with students from over 75 different countries. I learned so much about other cultures which helped me to analyze issues with a unique perspective. I learned how to appreciate people for who they really are and not how I wish they were which has helped me in my preparation for grad school. Another huge part of my learning experience was starting a campus organization called the Ocean Appreciation club, which allowed many people to maintain a healthy coastal ecosystem in our local area.

By attending college at BYU-Hawaii, I have had the opportunity to interact with students from all over Asia and the Pacific Islands. I have been introduced to so many new cultures and ways of thinking. I have lived a whole new liestyle here in the country of Hawaii. I have gained a respect for the land and an openmind to peoples many ways of living. Through attending this school I have learned so much as a Biology major. This private intitution has not helped me growing intellectually, but personally and spiritually, as the goals of this school match up with my religion as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Attending Brigham Young University-Hawaii has allowed me to acquire the knowledge needed for many things including simple, everyday things, to big events and accomplishments. For example, on March 14, 2010, I competed in a beauty pageant that not only judged on outer beauty, but also inner beauty and pureness of the heart. I had earned and was awarded the title Young Miss Hawaiian Island Beauty, the highest title within my age category. I have also accomplished many other things since attending BYU-Hawaii like making the Dean's List, auditioning and becoming a theater PCC night show dancer, participated in many cultural club activities gaining cultural knowledge from this university that has students from over 70 different countries, and above all, I have achieved a stronger testimony within the church along with fulfilling my church calling. Along with all these things that I have accomplished, I have learned to not only become more independent, but to manage and prioritize my time between earing a great GPA, work, dance, activities, and school. My college experience has been one of a chaos and excitment, in which I have learned much, both in the classroom and in everday experiences.

I have come to a realization of the importance of gaining experience and knowledge through my everyday classes so that I can help those in my chosen field of psychology.

I have made a lot of new friends here at BYU-HI, most of them lifetime friends. People here are friendly and I have learned so much from them. The experiences I have had here, have helped me to grow and progress in life. For example, learning to be independent and stand on my own two feet instead of relying on my parents for everything. i have also learnt the value of hardwork. There are times when i just want to stay in bed and miss class, but constant emails from my professors push me to attend class, along with the knowledge that attendance contributes a lot to your grade. I am so grateful I came here, it has changed my life in ways i never thought it could. My attitude towards life has changed as well, i usually wait until last minute to start an assignment, but now I prefer getting it over and done with before the due date. By doing that i actually have more free time to socialize and participate in school activities and services.

It has been valuable to attend college because education cannot be taken away from you, in most cases the better education you have, the more abundant the opportunities. I have gotten out of my college experience a desire to succeed, new friends and the ability to give back to the community. I plan to get a 4 year degree in PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION and to help single mothers/fathers and people with disabilities own their first homes. I plan to start an (NGO) or non-profit to accomplish this. I thank you in advance for your consideration !
