Since I've been in college, I've learned some of the tools I will need to open my own business. I've also learned about what employers look for and what they expect. In my major, we learn the different styles of managing a company and the keys to successfully keeping that company alive. Some of the teachers are even business owners that can answer the many questions students have about owning and operating their own business. My school is small enough to get one on one time with the teachers and the offer tutoring for any class. I've met many interesting people that have many of the same goals as I do.

I have learned that college is not about just living it up and going to parties. I witness people like this every day and to me college is about getting your life in order. You are in college to get a successful job in life and get you on the right track to where you need to be going. So many people think they can just come to college and do whatever they want. I've learned that college is the real deal and if you want to succeed in life, then don't mess up your chances of getting a good job by partying too much in college.

My college experience has been that of much learning, within and outside the classroom. I learn so many new topics from the professors in class that will directly relate to the career I choose and I very grateful for that. I also learn so much from the college community itself. The diverse students offer new perspectives on viewing different aspects on the world and an individual's impact. I also learn a lot just from the friends I have made and what they have shown me about how college is important to them. It has been very valuable to attend this school because I don't think I would have received these same kind of benefits from attending a less diverse school and I feel as though that I am better prepared for my career beyond college because of it.

Out of my college experiance so far, I have learned about my major and what to expect when I graduate. Every single one of my professors that I have had presented videos, activities and guest speakers in my major field. Their goal is to make each student feel comfortable when they graduate and step out into the real world and prepare for their first job. Even more, my professors are so dedicated to their students. They want each of us to do well and succeed. That is why I chose to be a teacher myself. In attending the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, I have really felt myself wanting to be the kind of teacher that my teachers were to me: inspiring, dedicated and caring.

For me, attending college was never an option. In high school my parents made it clear that I would achieve high grades, maintain leadership roles, and rack up volunteer hours so I could attend the university of my choice with scholarships in hand. Essentially everything I did in high school was done for college. But I didn’t really understand the value of college until I got here. At the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, I am enrolled in both the Business Honors Program and the University Honors Program; both are academically competitive programs with a focus on volunteering and career opportunities. After less than a semester of college, I am already beginning to see the merits of being active and involved. Attending school and participating in organizations allows me incredible networking opportunities; I get to hear speakers from the business community, have dinner with banking executives and entrepreneurs, and even attended a convention with the authors of the New York Times bestseller “Freakonomics.”In short, the college experience is about more than what you can learn from the classroom and textbooks. Attending university is an opportunity to meet people, network, and find a way to follow your dreams.

What I have gotten out of my college experience is the value of nutrition and how important it is for people to understand the nutrients your body needs. People wouldn't be nearly as sick or unhappy with themselves if they took care of their body instead of taking medications. The body is meant to heal itself and pills only push off the side effects for the time being.

One of the main things that I have gained from my college experience is self-sufficiency. I have learned, not only how to take care of myself and live on my own, but also how to motivate myself to go to class and get work done. In the past, I would have had my parents to motivate me either through threat of immediate punishment or through encouragement. I would have been home most of the time so I would have had fewer encounters with temptations that would distract me from my schoolwork. Now I have to deal with those temptations and motivate myself without fear of immediate punishment and I find those abilities to be useful in many aspects of life and not just in my educational career. I am now more self-sufficient because of these abilities and because taking care of myself has been thrust upon me, and when I am on my own in the future I will take obstacles as they come in stride.

What I have learned from being in college is to work as a teram member. In just about every class that I had been in we had at least had to work in a group a few times. it hepled me realize that in order to get through school you have to work with someone, and that also applies to when you are in the work force. Although you might not like what the job is as long as you work as a team you will get it done and it will all be in the past. Study hard and get good grades, like our parents told us, doesnt cut it any more, you have to be more then just a test score you have to be amazing or a stand out student.
