What if? Those words echo through nearly everyone's head at some point during their lives. So many possible paths to take, so many mistakes to learn from. If I could go back and give myself then a speech about what I know now, it would be this: follow your dreams and dream big. Way too many of us dream big but don't have the follow through to turn those dreams into reality. Then we spend the rest of our lives juggling "what ifs" and piling on guilt for all the wrong turns that we took. Step out of your comfort zone! Apply for that college that you think is way out of your reach. Be real and tell them why you deserve a chance. After all, what is the worst that can happen? They can tell you no, of course...but sometimes, that is best thing that can happen to you. Either way, take that letter and frame it. If it is a yes, it will remind to you always dream big. If it is a no, it will remind to work harder every day to be a person that they wish they had taken a chance on.

Aside from the great education I'm currently recieving, I have also made some friendships that will last a lifetime. I feel that other than the schoolwork, that is one of the important things. Without going to a four-year university, I never would have worked on my time management skills or study skills, which will help me once I enter the work force. The classes I have taken have already taught me so much and I'm eager to continue.

Through my experience at college I have learned how important it is to think for yourself and to not be easily manipulated by others. You are required to make decisions and suffer the consequences for poor decions that are made. I'm learning what it takes to be an adult and although i still have a long way to go to becoming financially independent i realize that it takes hard work and commitment. College has taught me to research everything and become a well informed member of society. I have learned so much about politics that I had never realized before as well. Most importantly I'm learning tolerance of others. Many people around you share opinions and if those views don't match your own you still have to acknowlegde where they are coming from and handle it in a professional manner. You can't make someone feel inferior just because you don't share the same views. You just have to continue on and realize that just because they have certain doesn't mean that you are expected to agree or believe their opinions, you're just expected to acknowledge and analyze such beliefs.

I love school. Some people think i am crazy but i really love to go. I am learning to be a middle school teacher and i can not wait to get into a classroom and teach! I am so fortunate to have parents and a family that support me so much in my dreams to attend school and further my education in order to educate other students. I have learned so much in college and i have grown in to a very educated woman who is strong willed and i know that i can do anything. I have met some amazing people in college that i will forever keep in touch with and i will always push everyone person i meet to go to school and reach anything that they aspire to become in life. Anyone can do it and i can not wait to be able to share my knowledge and love of education as an educator to our younger generation and help them to find their dreams and support them as i have been supported in my life.

I am a 40{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} disabled,10 Navy veteran. I wanted a school that would mirror some of my military experiences by being organized, and structured, yet creatively free. UNCC has been the best of all worlds. Their execution of financial aid, VA paperwork, scheduling, orientation, and adult student assistance has been flawless. I am continually blown away by the attention to detail of the staff, and the genuine concern and care for ALL students. I have five kids, and I am currently going through a separation. I was at a point where I didn't think that I would be able to handle the rigors of attending school, getting a job, and personal life. From the first email that I sent to the veterans representative, to the Saturday adult orientation that I recently attended, the staff not only showed me that I could accomplish my higher eduacation goals, but I could succeed in them. The insight that they gave me to scholarship programs, student organizations, tutoring help , and creating a feasible fulltime schedule, has been invaluable! I look forward to showing my kids what hardwork and determination can do, when you are in the right place with great people!

College is valuable because until you go away to school, your parents do everything for you. My mom took me to the doctor when I was sick, filled my prescriptions, made hair cut appointments, bought my books for me, made me do my homework, everything. But when I moved away to college, I learned independence and responsibility more than anything. I had to buy my own books, take my vitamins without nagging reminders from mom, budget my spending money on my own, and earn good grades. Transitioning from the summer after I graduated to the first semester of college was like moving on from childhood and finally experiencing a little bit of the adult world. I suddenly had no curfew, no rules, and could do what I wanted when I wanted, which was great, but I realized that with the freedoms everyone glamorizes about going away to school comes great responsibility as well. The college experience is about maturing and transitioning from a student to a young professional.

College never really seemed like an option for me since I came from a less fortunate family. I finally decided to take the initiative to enroll in a trade school for a medical office program. By doing that that feel that I have liberated myself, furthering my education has opened doors for me to create a career for myself instead of just a job. My work will have meaning. I am also the first person in my family to continue their education so I am very proud of myself. My college experience has given self confidence and pride, as well as a bright future in the medical administration industry. It hasn't been an easy journey especially being on my own in this juncture in life when it comes to support for my education. Enrolling was the best decision I ever made, incredibly valuable to my future as well as creating a stronger person inside and out.

College has been a great experience for me so far. I have grown alot in my communication skills and how I deal with life decisions. I have learned some things I wouldn't have learned if I had decided otherwise. One of those things learned is how peopple think and the different levels that people think at. I have learned how to communicate better with people and get on their level of thinking so a good conversation can come out of it. I have found value in my attending college because it is helping me to complete my goal of getting my degree in psychology so I can help better the world and understand people better. I think that this major I have chosen will help me in life more then anything because I will know how to better myself and others lives.

I have gotten that school is an important factor in life. In this day in time there is no way to be successful without a college education. I believe that my college experience has been a learning process because I have experienced the loss of my grandmother and how to cope with that along with going to school and how to balance supporting myself while being a full time student. This experience has taught me how to succeed in a job, how to manage my time and how to be a very successful man in life. Attending school has taught me how to be responsible at my job and how to be reliable. I have learned that just like in a job, if I don't show up there is valuable information and time that could be lost

I have gotten many things out of my college experience, but I would say the most important thing college has taught me is perseverence. Before I attended my school, I would give up on things at the slightest sign of adversity, but being in school has taught me that anything worth having is worth working for.
