My college experience has been short, but has already taught me more about the world and about myself than anything else I have ever been through. I have lived overseas, learned foreign languages, been through personal experiences, but nothing has shaped me like college has. Not only am I receiving an amazing education to prepare me for my future career, I am getting the building blocks to help me move towards being successful in other aspects of my life as well. With Greek life doors of opportunity have opened to me and with clubs and organizations, campus participation has opened myeyes to a larger, more diverse world. Yes, even larger than travelling over the ocean! College is the BEST experience anyone could ask for. Especially me.

I have experienced a new world since entering college. I was always afraid that when I went to college everything would change, and I would be all alone, but I realized new environments aren't bad. They give the chance to make new memories, and make new friends which seems strange at first, but it is something that a person will probably do multiple times throughout their life. It has allowed me to change my opinion of meeting new people, which has given me a new outlook on people. Throughout all of my life I have always been comfortable with my friends and family around me and now I am also comfortable with the new wonderful people I have met at college. UNC Charlotte has provided a great atmosphere for my college experience and I look foward to my remaining years there. I would suggest UNCC to any upcoming freshman and encourage them to step out of their comfort zone and let college create new memories and opertunities for them. Without this experience my life would be quite boring and would provide me with no new experiences or any career possibilities.

I have learned a lot of new things throughout my freshman year. I am happy that I get to go back to school and keep learning more about the Criminal Justice system. Everything I have learned so far will always be remembered and will help me become a better student and future employee in the Criminal Justice system.

Over the past three years, I have expanded myself as a person. I now have new outlooks on different races and cultures along with dedicating myself to become the best that I could be in academia. I have gotten a sense of accomplishment from attending UNCC that I have not recieved from anything else that I have done. Attending college has allowed me to be exposed to new subjects that I have never thought about. I has broadened my knowledge and also my cultural influence. I have always lived and attended schools that were not very diverse in race and ethnicity. Attending college, where people come together from all over, has allowed me to become more aware and respectful of these different opportunities. I believe that these new experiences that I have gotten, that I would not have been able to experience anywhere else, has set me up for a positive future where I am better understanding of myself and those around me.

I believe that the most valuable thing that i have gotten out of my college experience is responsibility. college is really the first time in my life that i have had to live away from my parents and fend for myself. i have had to learn to manage my time to fit my schedule. i havent had my parents there to tell me when to wake up, when to do my homework, that dinner was ready or even when to go to sleep. everything that i have done in college has been my decision so only i can take responsibility for my successes and failures.

The most important characteristic I attained as a college student was that of responsibility. As a high school student, I lived at home, had no expenses, and constantly had my parents reminding me to study. The term responsibility was not in my vocabulary. This all changed when I became a college student. Although as a college student I still stayed at home, my parents did not continue the privileges I became accustomed to. The first major responsibility I was exposed to was planning my own schedule. As an IB student, my classes were already planned out for me. The next responsibility I had was getting a job. Now that I was a college student my parents were no longer going to pay for my expenses such as school supplies, gas, and etc. Finally, the last major responsibility I had was managing my own time. As a college student, I had so much free time and was at liberty to do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. Studying, as one can imagine, was not one of my top priorities. However, seeing my first semester grades made me realize that some time management changes needed to be made.

My college experience has taught me to be more social and has taught me the value of time management and saving money. As an Art major I do spend a lot of time and a lot of money working of class projects. It is one hundered percent worth the time and money but I do wish they supplied the majority of the supplies for the classes because my financial aid grants do not at all cover for anything which in return I have to have a part time job. Juggling a part time job and being a full time student takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Over all the majority of my experiences at my college has been positive and I am proud to be a student of my college.

In just one short semester at UNC Charlotte I have gotten a lifetime of experiences that I know I couldnt get at home. Starting with just acemdemic lessons, I have learned so much. One of the biggest things I learned is that attendance is extremely important. You can miss so much by just missing one class. Also anytime you have free and youre thinking that you should study, use that time. I'm not saying to not go out and have fun, but you are paying to get an education of a lifetime. Aside from acedemics, I have made some of the best friends at UNC Charlotte. One big thing I noticed is how kinda everyone is down there and that helped me be polite to everyone I meet. This is just a great place to live and learn and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful college experience.

Going to school has opened so many new doors for me as a student and as a young woman. Before I decided to go off to college I was very much a homebody and was afraid to leave me family but I tried it out and I have never regretted it. Being at Charlotte has taught me so much in so many different areas of my life. I have met some amazing friends and although I was mature and independent before it has exceeded my expectations for myself as a responsible adult. I have been involved which I was always too scared to do and it has been an amazing experience. There is so much I could say to explain to you how much I have gotten from my one year of college but I am so excited about the next three years of my life. I have learned what I want to do with my future, teach children. This past school year has given me the drive and the passion to help children with their education. I don't know how much more I could have gotten.
