Being a Hispanic and this PWI, it can be daunting at times. My first year at UGA was definitely a learning experience, but that's typically how it is for everyone. It took me some time to find a group where I felt like I belonged, and even then there are days where I can feel like I am out of place. The academics at UGA are no joke, it is not what I was typically used to back in high school, which was another thing I had to learn. It was a lot harder having to face imposter syndrome while taking such rigorous courses, but everything soon fell into place. I found many clubs and organizations that helped me become more involved on campus. I was even lucky enough to become an exec member for a mentor/mentee organization called Latinos Invested in the Students of Tomorrow, or LISTo. UGA has so many orgs where you are sure to find where you belong, or even step out of your comfort zone. UGA also offers many resource outlets that are very helpful when you use them to your advantage. Sports-wise, UGA is all about sports. Saturdays in Athens are no joke, the energy is electric and it truly makes you proud to be a dawg, Overall, the University of Georgia has become home for me, and I am so grateful to be given the opportunity to study here.

A hot summer day was my first time entering the school. It was for an entrance exam for the Grady College of Journalism to join their film program, as it has been my drive for the better part of my life. Getting there, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I inevitably came to the realization that this school was far more than I imagined.  The sheer size of the campus engulfed my senses. I previously attended a community college before UGA, and to get an accurate estimate of the size of the area, it could fit at least 3 of my community colleges inside with plenty of room. Despite the grand size, navigation was rather straightforward thanks to the guidelines and layout of the school, making travel a breeze. Even after I got lost trying to leave, the other students were very generous and helpful, giving directions so that I could leave. From online reviews to word of mouth to the real experience, UGA is lining up to be an unforgettable experience, and once I officially enter in the spring of 2025, my road to becoming a part of the film industry will officially begin.

I love the atmosphere at the University of Georgia. Touring the campus was unlike anything I had ever experienced before. Between the students and the beautiful architecture along with the scenery, it's nothing I've ever really seen before at a college campus.

UGA is not just an University as I have seen. They go farther than the classroom as they are open to students preferences and choices. They willingly give students a lot of freedom to explore outside their career while still prioritizing their safety.

  20. Tell us about the sports scene on campus.

The sports scene is HUGE at the University of Georgia. If you don't bleed red and black, go home! Football is an epic experience here. Have fun in Sanford Stadium with nearly 93,000 of your fellow fans and watch the Bulldogs play. Gooooooooooo DAWGS! Everyone loves saturdays. It is certainly an awesome experience every Fall semester. Basketball is also an awesome sport to watch, whether it be the Men's team or the LadyDawgs. Stegemann Coliseum was just renovated and it is a sweet facility. Other sports that are fun to watch but are less popular: volleyball, tennis, swim-team, and don't forget the Gym Dogs (gymnastics)!

  21. What are your classes like?

This semester, my classes really weren't that difficult. I thought my AP classes in high school were a lot harder. I took English, Spanish, Math Modeling, Geography, and a seminar on the role of sex in advertising. Breaking down each class- English1102: There was not that much work to do in the class (read a few stories and only wrote 3 essays) but the papers were graded much harder than what I was used to. Spanish 1101: This class was reallllllly easy. The only downside is that there is a strict attendance policy. Math 1101: I thought this class was super easy but I've heard of others who thought otherwise. In my class, the quizzes were open note, open book, and open person. The tests were identical to the quizzes but you had to do them without the help of anyone or anything. I never did the homework but still did well in the class. Geography 1125: This was my hardest class. The content was interesting but there were only 2 tests so it was hard to remember everything when exam time came around. FYOS Sex in Advertising: This class was extremely interesting and very easy. There were no tests.
