Georgia Southern University strikes me as a solid choice for students looking for a well-rounded college experience, especially with its strong sense of community and support for student involvement. It offers a good mix of academic programs, especially in fields like business, engineering, and education, which makes it a good option for students who want a balance of academics and campus life. One thing I appreciate about Georgia Southern is its commitment to hands-on learning. The university emphasizes practical experiences, like internships and research, which can make a real difference in preparing students for careers after graduation. Plus, the student organizations, clubs, and sports offer lots of ways to connect with others and build leadership skills, which adds to the college experience outside the classroom. Georgia Southern also has a reputation for being affordable compared to many other universities, which can help make a quality education accessible without a heavy financial burden. The smaller class sizes at some of its campuses allow for more personalized instruction, which is appealing to students who prefer direct support from professors. Overall, Georgia Southern University seems like a school that values both academics and personal growth, giving students a supportive environment to pursue their goals and get the most out of their college years

I’ve heard great things about Georgia Southern University! It’s known for its strong sense of community and beautiful campus. They’ve got a pretty diverse range of programs and some solid sports teams too. Plus, Statesboro has that charming small-town vibe.

So far in my experience with the University I can't say I'm particularly pleased. Your freshman and sophomore years are inundated with filler classes that are easy enough to make your gpa look good but are a burn on your tuition. I've been here for awhile and tuition has only gotten higher with no marked improvement to compensate for it- but at least it's a relatively stable environment.

As a Latina woman, my opinion of Georgia Southern University is shaped by several factors, including its academic offerings, campus culture, and inclusivity. Georgia Southern University has made strides in recent years to enhance diversity and foster a welcoming environment for students from all backgrounds, including Latinos like myself. One aspect that stands out is the university's commitment to providing opportunities for underrepresented minorities, including scholarships, mentorship programs, and cultural organizations. This proactive approach to inclusion signals a willingness to embrace diversity and support the success of students from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, Georgia Southern's academic programs offer a range of opportunities for personal and professional growth. From STEM fields to the humanities, there are ample resources and support systems in place to help students excel in their chosen fields of study. As a Latina woman with aspirations in education or perhaps a STEM-related field, I appreciate institutions that prioritize excellence and provide the necessary tools for success. Furthermore, the campus culture at Georgia Southern appears vibrant and engaging, with a variety of extracurricular activities, student organizations, and cultural events. This enriching environment fosters connections and encourages students to explore their interests outside of the classroom. Overall, while every institution has its strengths and areas for improvement, Georgia Southern University appears to be making commendable efforts to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all students, including Latinas like myself.

  3. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about Georgia Southern University is the lack of minorities. In hig school you take a lot of things for granted. One of those things is the diversity within the student body. At Georgia Southern there are many white and black students, but when it comes to other races we lack. You start to miss the conversations in spanish you would hear walking the halls, and the sounds of asian instruments coming from the chinese club. If Georgia Southern accpeted more minorities, then it would seem like more of a melting pot .

  16. What is the stereotype of students at your school?

Students at Georgia Southern University are labeled with all different kinds of stereotypes. Many years ago, GSU was ranked the number one STD university in the nation. In addition, given we are located in south Georgia, most people assume the school is made up of mostly rednecks. That one, i'll admit, is pretty accurate. There are all different kinds of students who attend classes here, but there are a lot of rednecks. We have lots of athletes, lots at fraternity guys and sorority girls, but once you look past the greek life, sports clubs, and social groups, there are a bunch of them. The first assumption I mentioned however, no longer is true. The STD rate here had dropped dramatically and the SAT requirements to get into GSU have risen just the same. We need to get more credit for that!
