No, they aren't accurate. THere is a lot of partying available if that is what you are interested in, but you actually don't have to go to parties to have something to do. We aren't a city, so it's a little quite here but there are lots of things to do if you are motivated to look. You can also go out to parties without drinking and have a good time. If you are into small parties and gatherings, its a safer way to go because the larger parties that get busted take the spotlight.
In reality, people are here to go to school (a lot of us) and there are academic minds about , so don't think there aren't. If you're very interested in an academic community, the Robert E. Cook Honors College is nationally recognized and pretty well known for turning out good students. We've had a bunch of Fulbright and Goldwater scholars, etc. Check that out at www.iup.edu/honors Also, if the academic lifestyle without much or any partying is your choice, the Honors College is an especially good place to find like-minded students, and the Honors College dorm, where all freshman HC kids live is really happening all the time as far as card games, group studying, movie nights etc. goes. THere are, of course others who go out.

No! IUP's party life was just like any other school. I found tons of friends that were just like me and was not pressured into going out to party. As for IUP being in the middle of nowhere, yes, but IUP has tons of things to do like concerts and activities to do, I never found myself with nothing to do on the weekends.

This stereotype can be accurate if you want it to be. Not every single person at IUP is a partier. However, if you want to find a party I'm sure you will not have a problem. Believe it or not some people actually come to IUP for a great education.

1.In a way that might be true, but for most students it is not. At least not on a daily basis. Yes, there is a party basically every night if you look for it, but if you dont want too, you really can avoid all that. 2. Along with what I just said, some my not finish and some may drop out. Its all in what you make of the experience of being away at school.

Yes and no, though there are parties more students come for the education than they do the parties because it's not worth getting an underage/DUI and screwing up your whole future (especially if you're an education or health professional major).
Brianna
A lot of students do drink but there are some that don't, like myself.
Grant
the first one is not, the second one is.

I personally do not have any personal knowledge of the drinking habits of the students that attend IUP. There are numerous restaurant/bars, beer distributors in the area. I read about some students getted cited/DUI and hear others talking about parties. I have never attended one nor plan to.
