Kaylee - 05/30/2024

Forsyth Tech is a good local option for Stokes and Forsyth County students. It is very affordable and makes transfer to a larger university a smooth and cost-efficient process. However, I feel some aspects of student life and academics are lacking. Instructors are typically either very involved and engaging or dreadful and only seen for one semester before changing jobs. I definitely recommend the dual enrollment program for high school students to obtain their associates degree at the same time as their high school diploma.

Christopher - 02/22/2021

I believe this school is one of the best community colleges in the nation. It provides an excellent variety of courses leading to many different majors and careers. The student/teacher relationships are very reassuring and you feel that they really want to help you, which is sometimes rare to find in college.

William - 07/29/2020

Forsyth Tech is a good transitional school, despite its small size. It has an excellent nursing school. The professors are very accessible. Not all professors speak excellent English, but this is not uncommon on any campus. The online aspect of classes since COVID hit has been very good and the school has been very well prepared.

Destiny - 03/05/2020

It's a great place to come to for an Associates or just Pre-requisites in general. All the professors are really helpful, and are easily accessible during their office hours. The school is also a really affordable option for those who may not be able to afford University right away.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

The best advice I could give myself as a high school senior would be to not let the stress of my senior year or the entire college transition process keep me from having fun. I remember letting the anxiety and stress of applying to college and numerous scholarships get to me, especially the further the process continued. There were many nights I stayed at home instead of hanging out with friends or going out because I was so worried about everything falling into place. It not only kept me from having fun, but I also chose to not get a job because I was too concerned I wouldn't be able to handle the stress of school, a job, and all that came with transitioning to college life. Many of my classmates struggled with the same issue; I know that being able to go back in time and give myself that advice would not only be beneficial to me, but many others as well.

It is a great community college. It is better than most around my hometown, that is why i drive 30 minutes away to get there. I could easily go to a college 15 minutes from my house but this school provides excellent learning experiences and helps assist me in anyway possible.

  8. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

The unique thing about this school is that it is a community college. So the tuition is much less than that of a university. Despite that there is not much different than other schools. Escpecially for me it all came down to price.

  9. What are the academics like at your school?

At my current college I had many favorite classes. I can say one of my favorites would be my biology class. The teacher was very knowledgeable and he made learning fun. I enjoyed the material taught as well. My least favorite class has to be chemistry 2 because the teacher did not show an interest to teach and share any information. I felt alone and hopeless throughout the course. At Forsyth Technical Community College class participation is very common. To be able to learn and process the new information correctly teachers will advise students to ask questions and even some do group projects or discussions to have the students involved. Most students are competitive at my current college. They do not seem as competitive as university students, but I can tell they do care about their education and learning outcomes of a course. My major is an Associate degree in science. This is a degree meant to transfer to a 4 year university to continue college to either obtain a bachelors, masters, or doctorate degree. I mostly take Math and Sciences along with a few Humanities and English courses. I usually do not spend a whole lot of time with professors outside of class unless I need help with the material, but most teachers there teach on my level of understanding so I do not need to stay after. Sometimes I do if I feel unsure about a problem or I have questions.

  10. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

I meet most of my closest friends through classes throughout the semester and sometimes we will still take classes together. Some of us meet through group projects or just talk before class began. I think the whole party thing is less than people at a university level but people still do it. I just choose my friends wisely and try to get to know them before hanging out with them. On a Saturday night I usually work or study but if i can have fun I do not drink, i will go to the movies or shopping at the mall. When I am off campus I work 5 days a week and then I accomplish homework. I am going to volunteer at local animal shelters and organizations this summer.
