I have grown up to understand that this is the time for me to focus on my goals to successfully build my foundation of life. I need to look at the world and know that there's a place for me in which I can impact a persons life. I can receive the knowledge that I can use in my everyday life choices. I remember how I would laugh at some of the craaziest things my classmates would do in high school. Now, Iook at myself and wonder "why". I am now more mature and look forward to starting a career in the very near future. I look to start a graduate academic years. I am going to be someone that children will look up to and I will be very successful. I I have met some of the most amazing students. The international students have taught me a lot concerning their culture and the difficiulties to be away from home. Some of these people will be part of my life for years to come. I am thankful I am one who has the opportunity for higher education and to attend a college with a wide diverse faculty and students.

I learned that I have to learn things on my own and should not expect the teachers to teach me. I learned that you have to find out everything for yourself and don't expect anyone to give you the tools that you need to succeed. You can pay for an education, but don't expect one in return. This school has made my outlook of HBCU's very bad. I attended the University of MD, College Park before this school. College Park was great and fun. There were always things to do, the teachers and staff were friendly and caring, and I felt welcome there. I always had a place to study and a good meal to choose from. Bowie has already gone through 2 Provost in less than 8 months. I choose not to participate on campus simply because I can't stand having to be there just to go to class. I am in the Honors Program, and if it wasn't for that, I would never participate in any school events. I am not a negative person, but this school has made me have very negative feelings on a daily basis. Do not go there, please.

I have gotten life long friendships and culture shock out of my college experience. It has been valuable to attend this school because I was able to meet people outside of my neighborhood. I got a chance to learn how to speak up and speak out.

The college experience at Wharton County Junior College was been valuable to me in that it is a preparation of sorts. The college is close to home , it's not too big, but it's larger than my high school by a lot. Coming here has gotten me used to the college schedule, the way a campus runs and just being around as many people that are here. Attending college here has also allowed me to take some of my general studies so when I decide to transfer to a university I won't have to pay twice the cost for the class.

Generally, I am still experiencing some changes compare to the schools back in my home country, Cameroon, where the students are forced to do anything. Mostly, I have learned to be more outspoken other than keeping my thoughts and opinions to myself. I have learned to speak and understand other languages other than English or French. I have also learned to take control, to take charge, to handle, and to solve my own problems. I have learned to communicate diversely to other people from other race while getting to know them better. I hope to experience more before and during my graduation year.
Although I have always wanted to attend a more diverse college but financially impossible, I am still grateful to attend a valuable college which ranked the third largest HBCU in the country based on diversity. Bowie State University has all the criteria needed for a middle class family to afford admission. Compare to most HBCU's, Bowie State University has a low tuition, low fee rate, financial aid and scholarship, more flexible in terms of time management, and understanding teachers.

My college experience, thus far has taught me to be more responsible and independent because the teachers in college are different from the ones in high school. The teachers in college are less lenient than high school teachers. I've also learned to be careful of who you hang around because you could easily mess up your reputation or be labeled as something you're not. It has been valuable to attend college because now many jobs require a college degree, even for an entry level position. For some jobs a bachelor's degree will only get you an entry level position, so you're almost forced to get your masters if you want to make more money. I'm glad I chose to further my education and I hope other students do the same.

Out of my college experience I have learned to take advantage of every oppurtunity that is extended to me. I have also learned that hard work does pay off in the end, right time, right place also is a key component to your success in college.

I have recieved the utmost education experience at Bowie State University. And I am proud to say that I am a BSU Bulldog. Bowie State has given me small class sizes which gives each person ample time with one-on-one with the professors, its affordable, convenient, welcoming, and commuter student friendly. It has been valuable being a BSU bulldog because I gained so many attributes that I never possessed before such as great writing skills. My writing was ok, but after obtaining professors that stressed how important it was to hold strong writing skills Ive forever been great at writing. Another valuable entity I gained form BSU are the networks. Bowie State University is always welcoming new students that are willing to be proactive on campus and gain friendships that will last there after graduation. I adore how nuturing Bowie State University is to their students. We come first, and we are not a number. We are prospective engineers, docotors, lawyers, pr professionals, journalist, nurses and etc that they take pride in everytime they step into class to teach their students, and that is the most valuable thing Ive gained from BOWIE STATE UNIVERSITY.

I have realized that attending college has given me the option of a better future--We all have struggles throughout our lifetime whether we have a college degree or not, but knowing I will have a degree and the possibility of making a good life, for myself and my family, is more than rewarding. I feel that it has been valuable that I attend college, not only for self-fulfillment, but to show my young daughters that achieving a degree in college IS attainable and knowing you have done your best to create a promising future for yourself. I feel I'm at my best when I am learning and being at college allows me to broaden my views on many different subjects and become more independent when it comes to making choices of what subjects I am exposed to.
