My college experience thus far at Baylor University has been a springboard for what my heart desires, and that is a passionate relationship with Christ that leads to passionate relationships with people, which leads to a passion for helping those in need. It has begun to prepare me for the missions work that I believe God has called me to, and has set me up for success in this area. I am so thankful for the people that God has brought into my life by bringing me to Baylor University, with my parents living in Guam, Baylor has been my "home away from home" and the people here have loved me as Christ loves them, and it is such a beautiful thing.

I have grown up a lot since I have started college. Yes the expected change from high school to college changes like learning to manage my time, and deciding to go to class instead of being told to, but there is more than that. College has opened me up to so many choices, and choices make up the path of my life. I have learned to judge situations on my own, and yes, I have made mistakes here and there, but I am still learning. I believe I am making mostly right choices that will lead me to where God wants me to be in life. I am doing my best to do so. College is constantly opening up all these new choices( for example, going to a party or studying for my huge biology exam; buying ANOTHER cup of coffee, or saving up money so I have enough for groceries; etcetera) and I love having the power to make these choices. This ability forces me to be accountable, because, if I am not, then I will most definitely pay the price. College is molding me into the accountable adult I hope to be.

There is much that goes through the mind of an idealistic youth after receiving a college acceptance letter. She begins to map her future and to draw the avenues that will lead to the accomplishment of her goals. I remember the sentiment well and I look back on it with a smile of understanding. My college experience has taught me that while that youthful idealistic approach to life is necessary, it is imperative to accept the hard work and to continuously apply the skills that college allows students to add to their toolbelts. As a college student, I am given the opportunity to take that map of my future that I drew when I received my acceptance letter and bring it to life. I am able to build upon those avenues and pave the way to the next map that I will draw when I receive my acceptance letter to graduate school. The education that I receive within the fields of academia is certainly valuable, but the education that I receive within the halls of prudent life lessons holds a far more substantial value to me as a student, as a young person, and as a citizen of this world.

Coming to Baylor University really opened my eyes in the way people view Christianity as. Even though I grew up as a pastor's child, I was never exposed to the true experience that a follower of Christ should have. I was always a "church go-er" not a true Christian. But after coming to Baylor, I had truly experienced what it means to live with Jesus and what it means to walk with Jesus and that is one experience that I will never throw away. Attending Baylor is a very valuable thing to me because just even being on that campus, it makes me feel like I am already closer to God. The environment from the students and the professors, just makes me feel like God is working through everyone that attends the University. Attending Baylor has truly opened my eyes in ways that I can't comprehend and if I were able to keep it with me forever, it is one experience I will always cherish with me wherever I go.

I have gotten the skills and tools necessary to be successful in life. At this point, I think the knowledge is not as useful in life, although the skills I have learned in order to prepare for tests and manage time will ultimately be the most essential thing that I use in my life. Many people think that college does not prepare students to go into the real world and succeed in their fields and careers. I would agree with them to an extent. I feel like the preparation skills that they develop prove that statement wrong, because it makes them able to accomplish goals and overcome obstacles that they face in their early stages of working. They might not have experience in their field, but they have experience in meeting expectations and accomplishing tasks. This is why my attendance at a University has been valuable to me.

I have grown as a person. I have learned different values of other people and been able to expand my views about the world. I have learned to volunteer and to help others. I have learned to become more friendly and more accepting of others.

My experiences at Baylor have taught me the necessity of promoting sustainability programs to keep the environment green and healthy as we continue in a world of progress. I have learned to be responsible in my environmental decisions as I further my career in the realm of scientific research. Not only has Baylor emphasized the economic and natural health benefits of a cleaner world, Baylor has emphasized that it is imperative that men and women of faith remain concious of environmental issues, as a parallel aspect of our faith. Second, my experiences at Baylor have brought me a greater awareness of cultural diversity. Baylor has one of the largest percentages of international students among universities, and from this I have had the privilege to become good friends with individuals from Japan, Korea, China, Germany, England, and even Brazil. With each person I meet, I continue to broaden my worldview by learning about his or her family background, traditions, beliefs, and practices. This has shaped how I view myself in relation to the world, by providing me with a broader appreciation for the beauty of the entire human race.

So far, i have met some really good friends. Baylor has provided me with some opportunities with i believe that no other school could be able to offer me. I strongly believe that Baylor is a special place, with special people. I like the fact that the teachers actually care about you and are not there to just there because of research. It has been valuable for me to attend because i think that the things that i've learned is not only good for the test, but for life after graduation day.

i have gotten a lot out of my college experience. people think they have to have this college life when really is it just sets you back, not always, but a good reputation is what's needed and gets you through. I've learned to trust yourself before others and keep focused, work hard and achieve your goals. Every minute of life is worth taking and learning; you have to have a college education to get to plan A to plan B. people take so much for granit and think everything gets or can be handed to them because they've had it easy, but sooner or easy it'll soon hit. not everything comes easy; challenege, discpline and determination. don't let a opportunity pass by before its too late. its been valuable, because its shown me apart of or small portion of a college life and a little bit of reality taste like.

"Start here. Go anywhere", the Borough of Manhatten Community College catch phrase. I can tell you with confidence that they weren't just picking out cute sloans for the hell of it . This coming from a person who thought their life ended by coming to a two year school. But my experience here has taught me differently, it has shown me that greatness can be achieved anywhere, that even the so called losers can rise to the top, beating out the future politicians of our time. In being here, it has given me confidence to pursue goals the me before would have been too afraid to do. In turn allowing me to dream bigger and work harder for it. It has taught me the importance of standing up on my own and just going for it. All of these things are very important to me because it has helped me to become an better person and finally developing a goal of my own. If I had not attended I wouldn't have been able to learn the things that I had or meet the people I did which contributed to my experience.
