I have really enjoyed my time here at UNCG, I love the scenery, and the classes are so interesting! I had a hard time choosing which college to go to, but I definitely picked the right place. This college is so welcoming but not so much you become overwhelmed. I love it here!

During my time at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, I was provided with the essentials of making sure I was playing my instrument correctly, with great guidance for the performance aspect of our careers. As an arts centered college, it excels in creative endeavors that can be clearly seen throughout various parts of the campus, as well as all over the city and state in some occasions. Despite the recent departures from certain pillars of the school, it remains as an incredible university dedicated to the pursuit of greatness in all endeavors. That being said, There is an area that requires more care and upkeep in professional development and connection building. While the students at the school of music do gain access to professionals via masterclasses, performance series, and the entrepreneurship class given to arts students, it only shows the end products of our aspirations without truly showing students a roadmap so to speak. Every path for every student is different, but at the beginning of their development, I find it imperative that a sample of a layout is drastically needed in order for some in the early stages to know where to start in their development of connections, performances, and even in their communicative efforts. Overall, I do believe in my alma mater and their efforts as an arts school, it simply needs more reinforcement in providing avenues in networking and communication on a less macro scale.

It is a decent in-state university. There are a lot of activities to participate in both on and off-campus

UNC Greensboro is a lovely school. AT UNCG, you'll always have something to do. The city has a lively downtown, there's always an event on campus. I personally have really enjoyed my experience so far. Our campus also isn't too big. You can get anywhere in about a 15 minute walk. UNCG is also very open to students creativity. There are over 250+ clubs for students to choose from. It's also very easy to start one.

  7. What is your overall opinion of this school?

The best thing at UNCG is the suitcase campus. Greensboro is almost in the middle of North Carolina and UNCG's location is close to students homes. I remember my first year here, on weekend nearly the entire freshmen body living on campus would go home for the weekend just because home is very close. Now this is what is best and worst for UNCG. The campus looses its school pride and spirit. UNCG spirit is very low compare to similar universities. Some might say is because we do not have a football team, but that should not be the excuse for not having school spirit. I love UNCG because its not too small or too large, it is just perfect as far as size and what is being offer. All type of student can benefit from choosing here. The business program is top in country, our nursing program is very challenging, and finally our music program can match up with any university in the United States.

There are a million of activities to do on campus. Campus recreation is a huge. Intermural sports is huge. I have been playing since freshmen year and the same student play for four years and you build relationships and partnership with other student that last a long time. UNCG also has a reputation of have very pretty girls. So for the guys coming to campus single, you will have girls that will have something in common.

  13. What are the academics like at your school?

At UNCG, professors care about your education. They truly want you to do before. Yes some basic requirement courses might have over 100 student, but professor will encourage you seek them out if you need extra help and take time for questions to explain something you do not understand. Then after you get into your major courses, you practically have a one on one relationship with the professor. In class, your professor will call you by name and ask you what can be done before in order to succeed in the course. Course work is average and as long as you stay on top of your assignment and get them done early and also see the professor before it is too late, there is no question that you will pass with flying colors. I am graduating in May 2012 and I made sure i did my work on time and ask question when i was stuck. emailing my professor was my secret, they truly respond to your email with more than you ask for.

  14. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Coming out of high school, I had no expectations of what would be required of me upon entry. I assumed it would be like high school where there would be an abundance of teachers to help if needed. My experience in college has not been that at all. I have found that the professors treat us like adults and not children. I have had to adjust to this type of enviroment but it has been a good adjustment. It would have been nice if I had some type of communication with professors prior to the year beginning.

  19. What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

Students at UNC-Greensboro usually get a reputation for being flowery hipster kids who endlessly haunt the music/art buildings. Needless to say this stereotype is true for a good number of students here, but there's enough diversity of thought on campus that all social groups are represented in a more or less equal fashion. People resembling stoners can be found in the College Ave dorms, Psuedo-geeks can be found a bit farther up in North Spencer, a dormitory for the honors college students. Jocks are usually found on the quad near the sports building and greek organizations, and hipsters are abound in the Music and Art building. UNCG is good for having a laid back atmosphere from semester to semester, and doesn't promote one social group above another.

  20. Tell us about your professors.

Depending on the subject, the professors varies. My communications course, the professor were fantastic, they truly care about the success of the student. Communication is important in all areas of life and you learn more than expected. My business law professor was the best professor i ever had in college. Not only did she know the subject, she practiced it before teaching, offers to help you outside of class and she was just happy teaching the subject which pumped me up to learn.

  21. Why did you decide to go to this school?

UNCG was actually not my first choice. Don't get me wrong the website was very helpful and showed tremendous information that attracted me to the school, but the moment I stepped on campus and saw how beautiful it was and how it felt like my second home. I knew this was where I wanted to be for the next 4 years maybe even 6!
