Washburn University is a great place to delve into your studies and grow academically and personally as you learn where you fit into society and what your strengths and weaknesses are. Then, to grow and be supported by peers and faculty as you refine your given career with a strong foundational understanding of the fundamentals. This helped me get into internships and my desired degree program and future institution with ease.

My opinion about Washburn that it is a good school for academics, but it has the best law in Topeka Kansas the atmosphere is great and the staff is great too. Also the class sizes are smaller than the bigger than the big schools also the sports teams are good too.

My opinion of Washburn University is a good one. I loved the campus when I went there; my guidance counselor was terrific. I believe I will fit in well on the campus as there are many clubs I am interested in. It seems to be a very accepting campus as it is a more liberal school.

Washburn campus was very nice. Even though there are land locked in the middle of the city there are plenty of open fields which can make for a fun time with friends. The overall class sizes were very nice. I think my biggest class was about 25 people. They also had a good variety of online vs in-person classes. They are good at offering the same classes all year around instead of limiting some to fall or spring. The professors are also very helpful. I feel like I was able to contact them and get good help almost anytime I needed it. They also came across as people who cared about my education. The advising process was very good. I met with my advisor ever semester and discussed my goals and graduation plans. I can only remember 1 problem where my advisor told me to take the wrong class on accident. The school overall is mostly designed for returning adult students. There are some options available for extracurricular activities but they are the usual sports games and annual traditions. For a smaller university, they offer quite a few programs. I was able to choose from a multitude of career options. The only negative about the school is the location. It is not in the best part of town. There is a decent amount of crime that takes place around that school. I would highly recommend Washburn for someone looking to get a high-quality education in an Allied health program. They seem to have the deepest and widest selection in the state of Kansas.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

    I have gained many things from my college experience thus far. Firstly, I have become a much more independant and self-sufficient young woman. I have chosen a major that I strive for a career in everyday, and the academic advisors here willingly guided me through the entire process of choosing said major. I'm really happy with my choice and have such a firm conviction now that Criminal Justice is where I belong. College has been valuable for me to attend because I have gained such a breadth of knowledge and so many skills I will use for the rest of my life. My dad has multiple degrees, and growing up he always knew "everything" when I asked for help with my homework, he is one of the most intelligent, best people I know. Hopefully, someday I can be that for my children, and they can give me a hard time that I know too much, too! I have become a better, more well-rounded, intelligent, responsible person in attending college and I would never take that choice back. I know my education will take me where I want to go in life!

    The class sizes are fairly managable. They're not too big and not too small. It's a good transition for anyone coming from a small school to a larger one, like myself. Plus, all of the professors are very nice and very helpful. They take the time to learn your name and actually call you by it, and always offer you extra help when you need it.

    It's somewhat boring and it takes a long time with admissions and registrar to get on the same page with you. It can be confusing.

    Washburn University is a great place to go if you like the one on one with the professors, because there are not as many people in the class and so the professors have more time to help you if you need it.

    If someone is not really trying to improve themselves shouldn't come to this school. It wouldn't be beneficial to others having a bad apple on school campus. At washburn I have seen some that has already left because school wasn't for them, but I think they shouldn't give up on school just go to our couciling services and ask for other options that would help them with their future

    So far I don't wish for anything, the school has shown me all I need to know and provided me with everything I need. I am completely comfortable with this school and am glad of my choice.

  14. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

    The most popular groups would have to be cheer, basketball, and baseball. They are always having everyone active when they do something. I am involved in cheer, we do a lot for Washburn we try and get everyone to participate in any school activity we have. The dating scene im not to sure about because this is my first year so I have not really been around much. I don't have close friends yet but im sure I will get there. Some people I have met are on my cheer team. I heard Washburn is not known for their parties, at least that's what I have been told. What I would normally do on a Saturday night would probably go to the movies or out to eat. I don't go out much I have to much to lose. What I normally do off campus is practice cheering or study.

  15. What is your overall opinion of this school?

    The best thing about Washburn University are the people working there. They are extremely helpful always willing to help you out, they are there whenever you need them. Washburn's size is just right not to big not to small. The campus is not big at all you can get to all your classes in the matter of two minutes/ When I first told everyone that I got accepted into Washburn they were thrilled. They told me that it was an excellent school.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
