Advice I would give myself as a high school senior is this. Meiona start applying now to getting into a great college that will help you become the best to be successful. Get a job and start saving to help get a jump start of your college experience. the paper work will be hard but you have to complete it on time and it is very important. College life so far is grest. You have great friends and you are with the person you love. Going to college is going to help you succed in life and become the future Doctor you want to be. You will make your mothe and Family proud, you will also be missing them alot but its worth it. College isn't so bad the class are more challenging but it will all pay off in the end. Keep working hard through your senior year and come out at your best. Becoming a doctor is your dream and fullfiling that dream will be amazing. No one will do it for you they can only help you along the way. Dont ever give up , fight through it. Theres no greater feeling then feeling successful in life.

If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior I would tell myself that I really need to buckle down and continue to work hard. I would also tell myself to explore my options at different schools other than Voorhees College and not to spend all that money in senior items. And because I am a somewhat quiet person I would tell myself to break out of that and get to know people because boredom brings curiosity and sadness. Also, i would tell myself not to take any pity from anyone and do not ride people in my vehicle that I do not know or trust. My advice is to myself would be "to be smart and never let anyone bring you down". That is what i would tell myself if I could go back in time to talk to myself as a high school senior.

Knowing what I know now as a college student, I would tell myself as a high school senior to take all the time necessary before deciding on a college. I would also tell myself to get as high of a GPA as possible and explore all options available after graduation.

The advise I would give myself is first and foremost always stay true to yourself, never let your environment define who you are. Next, take time and get to know people before you call anyone your friend because majority of these people will just use you and take your kindness for weakness. But above all keep God first in everything you every do. Pray every morning He allows you to wake up and every night that He allows you to have made it through without any harm. Build a great reputation with the faculty and staff because they will help guide you through school and with them you could have greater internships or employment opportunities ( you never know who they know). Lastly, have self-discipline. In college you are responsible for yourself, so know when you can afford to go out and have fun and when you have to stay in to study or finish your work.

Assuming I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior, I would have told myself to apply for colleges and scholarships at the begining of the school year. If I could have went back I also would have told myself to get help on things about colleges and play a bigger role as a citizen in my community. If I could have told myself these things I would have been a very prepared freshman at Voorhees College.

What I have gotten out of this college experience so far as an undergraduate college freshman is a wide awakening to what some may call the "real world." College has taught me to become more organized, more aware of my surroundings and the opprtunities out there and a the seperation from a little girl to a woman. College has broaden my horizons to new heights and new discoveries of all kinds of people that you might not get the chance to experience just by walking past an individual on a day to day bases. The experience is one to remember for years to come and extremely valuable due to the fact that I took a leap of faith to go on and futher my education and make something out of yourself. I also vlue the fact that as a first generation student it builds self confidence and assures you that anything can happen and dreams can come true through hard work and perseverance. I last but not least value what we Voorhees College (VC) students like to call that "Tiger Pride."

My College expericene has really allowed me to change the way i look at society. I barely made it out of high school and as a result was unable to get into the college i desired. I ended up spending a year outside of school working at a local subway. Finally one day i had enough and visited Housatonic community college. Everyone there was so helpful and it gave a completely different vibe than anything i've ever felt before. Everyone there WANTED to be there. They just wanted to learn. There was young and old learning together smiling and laughing. Sometimes even crying when the semester drew o a close. College isnt something to just go to because its the right thing to do. I've learned that its a powerful thing that can bring grown men to tears getting a degree or have an old man listen to a teen about study styles so that he can retain information better. As i leave to UConn now i will never forget what i felt at hcc. And can only hope to be writing this about UConn in a year's time.

Attending an HBCU has been the most liberating experience of my life. I say this because I came from a very diverse high school and grew up in a majority white neighborhood. I had no idea that life in Denmark, SC would be so different from the life I was so accustomed to. My first semester at college I made friends and lost them, I made mistakes and learned from them, and I lost control of who I was for awhile. Although my grades were excellent my first year, I still had a hard time adjusting just like any other freshman. The first semester of my sophomore year came around and it was then that I began to find myself again. I began getting more involved, praying more, and contemplating hard about what the future would hold for me. I began to feel that I could do anything I set my mind to and that I was going to be different. I told myself that this is the time to start making things count. With that realization, I came to the conclusion that I'm at Voorhees College for a reason and I plan to do my best here.

I have gotten out of my college experience is an education that have prepared me to become competitive with other college graduates of my peers and a degree which will allow me to be marketable in my chose field of Organizational Management and a foundation for me to continue to pursue my Master's degree in the Fall 2011. It has been valuable to attend Voorhees College, Denmark, SC because the program of study has allowed me to continue to work and raise my two daughters. My education is priceless and will open the career doors of opportunity for me. I hope the value of service Voorhees College has given me will afford another the same opportunity.
