While attending my local community college, I have learned a great deal about responsibility, work ethic, the value of education, and also about myself and my priorities and desire for my future. The professors have always been willing to do whatever they need to in order to help their students succeed and look forward to moving on to a four-year university. I've learned to work past the distractions of life and focus on what is most important at this stage, my education. The value of attending the community college is priceless to me. I've been given the opportunity to start my college career with the lowest cost possible, while still being given the quality of classes as I would have at a four-year university. These two years at the community college are irreplaceable stepping stones to my future.

I have gotten so much experience out of going to my local college to be a Diesel Technicain, because it has taught me how to work on all type of semi's and trailors. It makes me feel good when I fix a problem that has occurred with what ever it is that im working on. I have only been going one semister so far but i have learned so much about the trade. My instructor is one of the best around and I feel that the skills I learn here will be very benificial in my success as a Diesel Technician. The more I go to class the more I am exited about how much I will enjoy waking up to go to a job I will love doing.

I am striving as hard as I can to get my family out of the neighborhood I live in. Gunshots and fights are heard throughout the night. I am doing the best of my abilities to help my family, my greatest motivators. Ever since I was a child I always wanted to help people to help people that is why i joined the medical field. I remember in high school my algebra teacher told me that there are always going to be sick people and there are always going to be people that need to learn. He's right. Education is a huge thing in anyone's life and so is health. That pretty much sums up my decision; to be a teacher or a doctor. Everything in my life urges me to push for success. My lifestyle, family, friends, instructors, even people that I don't know that see me in my scrubs outside of school. I want what everyone wants, a fulfilling life and I need all the help I can get. I made a promise to my family and I'm not going to break that promise.

Being a non-traditional student, I looked for a non-traditional college. The decision to go back to school forced me to look at what, when, and where I wanted my future to unfold. I choose Virginia College because the programs are specifically formed to get you a job. Not being fond of studying, I wanted to spend the least amount of time studying to get a job that would challenge me and brighten my future. I know I am getting the information I need to perform a job that is available. Also, the classes are small enough so I can concentrate and get plenty of questions answered. The most valuable experience I have had is the hands on training from the instructors that still work in the field that I am trying to learn. This was not what I expected when I signed up for college. I expected long boring lectures with lots of papers. I have had to write my share of papers but there has never been a boring lecture. The most valuable thing I have learned is that I am going to be prepared when I get to the next phase of my life, my career.

I, Lawrence A, Burwell, find it relevent to success to attend school of higher education. While in college, I've had the opportunity to engage myself in a community in which everyone has one positive ultimate goal. This goal is ultimately to obtain a bachelors degree (B.A) or (B.S). I've met very influential figures who encouraged me to attend school and better myself, whether it is educationally, spiritually, or mentally. There are a plethora of things ive gotten out of my college experience, and they may include, but not limited to, building social confidence, improved learning skills, confidence to persue the finer things in life and a host of others. Personally, I believe school cannot be detrimental to anyones life, therefore, I believe everyone should attend, or at least, make an attempt. In conclusion, I believe college was a great experience for me and my life benefited from it a great deal. With that said, im pretty sure if one can prosper in college another one can duplicate the feat.

A sense of accomplishment that I haven't felt from anything else that I have done. Confidence, pride. Some admiration from others. Use the skills learned to volunteer and help others. Knowing I can take care of myself and be on my own during college. Friendships.. The greatest benefit was the completion of a long term plan/goal. Realizing because of college that there are a lot of things I can accomplish if I want to. The importance of a college education is very important because of the opportunity to gain valuable resources during your tenure. The more connections which are collected during your college career, the more options you will have when you begin your job search. Once you have ended your job search and have started your career, however, the importance of a college education has not been exhausted. Having a college degree often provides for greater promotion opportunity. I have learned alot by going to college. So why i attend college the reasoning does not begin and end with the job aspect. A good education is beneficial from many different viewpoints, and while the importance of a college education is quite evident for many high school students.

I have been attending Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock, AR through a Presidential Scolarship and plan on attending The University of Arkansas in the Spring. Even though it is a community college, I still have had a wonderful experience. In many Universities the classes are quite large, and in some cases, one may not be able to learn in that environment and it becomes less personal. At my college, the average class size is around 20, which gives me much more personal time with the teacher, this has been my best experience by far. Because there are smaller classes, you can also get to know everyone who is taking the class with you, and help each other accordingly. All of my teachers have been great so far (except for maybe one), and are invested in the success of their students.
Having a more personal college experience has been the most valuable aspect of my college career so far, and I hope that my next college will be able to offer a similar experience.

My college experience has been something so influential in my life that it is the single most rewarding experience to date in my life. As a student here at my beloved Voorhees College I have flourished into the man that myself and others have learned to love. I have made friends that have imparted values and interactions that will leave a lasting impression on the way I exist in society. Due to the hands-on and personal environment here at the school, I have taken my knowledge and scholastic abilities to heights that I couldn't fathom reaching had I have never stepped foot on this campus. The faculty has taught me through tough love and compassion, that as an African American student in this present day and time I must excel at anything that I can to make a difference not only in my community, but in the way that we are perceived in society as a whole. As someone who didn't initially intend on attending school, I encourage anyone considering not coming to college upon high school graduation to consider the unparalleled experience I have had as incentive to take advantage of this valuable life-long lesson.

I have gotten a lot from my experience so far because I'm learning more about who I am as a person as well as who my true real friends are in life. My faith is getting stronger and stronger each and every day, I do have my ups and downs, but it come with the trails that I face on a daily bases on campus.
