Overall Rating: 2.8/5 As a sophomore at Valdosta State University, living in Centennial Hall has been a mixed experience. One of the most significant challenges has been the limited availability of tutors for various majors. This lack of academic support makes it difficult to excel in more challenging courses, especially when additional help is necessary. The quality of teaching has also been a point of concern. Many professors seem unprepared or struggle to effectively communicate the material. This has made it hard to stay engaged and fully grasp the content. Additionally, it often feels like the majority of the faculty don't genuinely care about the students' success, which can be discouraging. While there are some positives about the campus and its community, these issues have significantly impacted my overall experience, leading me to rate it a 2.8 out of 5.

I was drawn to Valdosta because of the beautiful campus honestly. It really does look like the pictures, but I've fallen in love with the small-town vibe. I have had some excellent teachers and some fine teachers, and the ones I have had monumental roadblocks with I was able to take to high levels in order to resolve it. Overall, a solid school.

A perfectly fine school, VSU's unique setup for Music Ed works for some but not everyone. There has been significant turnover in the faculty of the school of music in the past 10 years. That does lead to some challenges, though it still is a solid, if small community. The other faculty provide some fascinating insight, whether that's through Genealogy or Music in Film.

If you maintain a positive attitude when applying for admissions, meeting new people, and applying for jobs then you will NEVER meet a stranger! Its all about positioning yourself for success and being positive.

    The worst thing is how dead campus is during the weekends. it feels like the school is encouraging people to go home on weekends. I also would chaneg the cafeteria schedules. After 6 o'clock in the evening there usually is not a great majority of food left.

    Me personally, I like the diversity. My reason is because it is somewhat hard to find a school that accepts someone who is a mixed race as well as being friendly. Of course, you can't ecsape racism but the diversity there lets you mingle with plenty of different people both race and personalities which I love most about the university.

    If you plan on attending VSU you should be ready to learn, have fun and enjoy school. The teachers are very helpful and understanding. If you feel a little embarassed and don't want to go to your teacher for help, you can always go to the Student Success Center, and they have a lot of very smart students who can help you out. You should also be ready for different types of weather.

    I wish I had known that Valdosta State was so attentive to their students before come to the campus, and I would have been better able to achieve my goals being a single mother of two.

    The faculty at Valdosta State University are the best part of VSU. The faculty push you to your best, and they are very involved in helping you decide your plans for the future. I plan to be in contact with my professors for a very long time because they have fostered a great deal of knowledge and intellectualism in me. The people are friendly, the classes aren't too big, and by no means is anyone at this university considered a number. That is why i recommend VSU to prospective students.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
