pretty decent school overall. definitely recommend to anybody who is looking for a cheap education but still wants quality, and to be close to oceans, and family. If attending Pembroke, you have access to plenty of on and off-campus housing, and food services along with many other things

I really like it there. I was scared to attend collge, but UNCp made me feel welcomed right away. Even with covid, they did everything they could to make the move as easy as possible. Teacher's are always there for you. Grades seem to be fair so far. I like the overall feel on campus. I'm proud to tell others I go to UNCP.

I enjoy the North Carolina University of Pembroke. This is my first semester at this school. So far this school is pretty no-nonsense, but I’m also starting to experience some flexibility, which has been a bit of a godsend if I am being honest. I have a full course load, completely online. I enrolled late and didn’t have a lot of time to pick classes, so I just kind of rolled with whatever was available at the time. At first, it was a really hard learning curb trying to figure out the methods and where the information I needed was, but I found the right people to talk to and I figured everything out. The professors and the other students have been really fair and understanding to me. I don’t feel like the best student, but I don’t feel like the worst. I can honestly say that I’m going above and beyond for myself, and I don’t feel like I’m being left behind. The classes are not simple. It’s real college classes with real challenges. I’m starting to enjoy online learning and the University of North Carolina Pembroke is the first school that ever made me feel like I could enjoy online learning. Once you get used to it, the Canvas platform becomes intuitive. It’s really just a matter of being pragmatic and finding the answers. Once you are in, you have the key. If one is able to develop a good method and mindset at the University of North Carolina Pembroke, then they most definitely have the ability to succeed.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

JoAnna, I know you may be wondering who I am or how do I even know you. The past four years may seem to have been rough. You've lost a few friends and family members and at times it seems as if you're carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. Financially it seems as if you don't have many options after this but trust me you do. Hold off on trying to grow up too fast. You will experience heartbreak, tears, and disappointment, but believe me when I say this LIFE GOES ON. Don't stress about juggling work and school. Focus on your studies and the rest will fall into place. Join a sorority, make new friends, have new experiences, travel, and just enjoy life. Trust me you'll live with a lot of regret and "should've, could've, would've" thoughts if you dont! Major in what YOU want to major in, not what fits your work schedule. You deserve the upmost happiness ten years from now, but the choices you make today determine the person you become. Lastly, live your life the way you want to! Sincerely, Your Future Self

  8. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The thing that I consider as the worst thing about UNC Pembroke would be its location. I would liek to do many things in the community as far as service and internships but it is a little difficult considering that Lumberton is about 12 miles away and I am not driving this year. But aside from that, UNC Pembroke does do a great job of providing the essentials for its students. Most of the things we needs as far as resturaunts, supply stores, help, and aid are right here on campus.

One of the most frustrating things I have begun to notice around the campus of UNCP is the violence. As a student who resided off campus, I have begun to see an increase in burglaries in and around the apartments. Over Christmas break, my roommate was a victim of the violence as she returned to find her window broken and her play station missing from her room. While hoping that increased security around the apartments would decrease the violence, this attempt failed as my neighbor was followed into her apartment and robbed at gunpoint.
