It has a unique calming environment which makes it very inviting. Its facilities have just been renovated, and everything is up to code. Also, they have a lot of hands-on programs for different degrees, which can be super beneficial when looking for a job.

Campus Life is awesome and works to include all students, both residential and commuters, in all events. The atmosphere is welcoming and there is a strong sense of school spiri. The class sizes are small enough for the professors to communicate with each student and all of the faculty and staff show how much they care about everyone on campus.

  7. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I would have known to particpate in a lot as a freshman. My freshman year I was homesick so I went home a lot. You meet so many new people during the first week here at Mobile. It is such a small campus so in a month you know half the people here. Freshman year you have so much time to enjoy college life. I did not get involved as much as I would have liked to. I did not know that it would be the best time of my life.

  8. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about my school is they do not allow students with a Minister's Dependant Scholarship to use an Academic Scholarship as well. This is the worst thing because I had to take out loans to pay for my tuition and I really did not want to do that. I earned the Academic Scholarship and I don't even get to use it.

  9. What kind of person should not attend this school?

The University of Mobile is a positive, beautiful school that is always welcoming any new or future attendees. However, keep in mind that UM is in fact a private, Christian institution, therefore the campus thrives on being "in the know" on a constant basis. Drugs, alcohol, fornication, and any other negative aspect that could blemish the school's, as well as the student's reputation is prohibited. So if you are a "fresh out of high school" student who is looking for that newfound freedom to roam (or to party), you won't find enjoyment here. UM believes in cleanliness.

  15. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Our performing arts program is HUGE - even for non-music majors. We perform in various settings year round, and it brings every together on a heart level. It truly is something special. 16. What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

That we're all sheltered and naive. That couldn't be further from the truth. While we DO have a lot of people who come from sheltered, home school backgrounds, there's a larger population that is keenly aware of the world and society around them. Our school encourages us to each be a "world-changer", so this stereotype is not accurate.
