University of California-Irvine Top Questions

What do you consider the worst thing about University of California-Irvine? Why?

Emily

The food options and on-campus housing options are bad: the food is very unhealthy and there are hardly any vegan and vegetarian options, and on-campus housing barely accepts anyone. The quarter system is also not condusive to a good learning environment.

Judy

The brand new student center seems to need some breaking in. In the evenings, the pub is great, and during the day Starbucks is a great meeting/study spot. But those are the main draws to the general area; the stale, unmovable furniture and mediocre food make it more a passageway than a center.

Eileen

Some of the fees included in the tuition are a little over-the-top.

Kelly

Not enough school spirit and student body involvement

Steven

The worse part about this school is that it is a communter school so its rather difficult to make friends. To be honest there is not much do in Irvine itself. Another downside is that they lack a football team.

Stephanie

The general lack of school spirit! People who come here are ashamed or disappointed they ended up here and are very negative about it. But, I believe the experience is what you make of it.

Vivian

far from home

Mitchell

There is hardly any diversity, which makes it hard for those students who don't quite fit in to feel comfortable.

Theresa

It's so hard to get the classes you want! It also sucks not having a car here because there are not a lot of things to do close to campus.

Jacky

The school is extremely wasteful because they use drinking water to water the lawn and there are much left over food that gets thrown away at the cafeterias.
