My overall opinion about the school is outstanding. I was captivated to attend the school the first day I went to the school for campus tour. Before I visited Towson University, I had other schools I planned transferring to, but after I visited the school, I made up my mind because the settings of the school from the environment and how student staffs and teachers took care of all the individuals in attendance was great.

This school is well balanced and very diverse. The campus is very big and quite enjoyable. Though Maryland weather seems to never be quite nice everyday, the overall weather is mostly nice. A lot of professors actually are really nice and are willing to really help you in and out of class. I have had some tough classes but for the most part the professors know what they are talking about and know how to teach you in a way that will be enjoyable. There are many dinning areas on campus, most of them are really good, a few are over priced for the meal plan but worth it. Also there are many on campus events that happen so it is never too dull.

Towson University is a really great school in terms of academics, extra-curricular activities, and things to do . It may have a large amount of students but classes aren't large, maybe 25 maximum. There are lots of fraternities and sororities around campus, and if you are not interested in joining one, there are lots of other groups and organizations you can join. Our Campus Activities Board always have activities planned and our school also offers great outdoor trips you can take! It is about 15 minutes from the Inner Harbor and there is a 4 story mall right up the street. The professors are great and I you learn from other students who is the best professor to take for a certain class. The only complaint I can think of is that it is a hilly campus so you are always out of breath. Also, if you are looking to take a lot of online classes, Towson may not be your best choice.

Towson is the 2nd largest university in Maryland, but has a small home town feeling. The university is located near busy malls and the city, but the feeling of the campus is relaxed. I love how the classes are of small size and many professors want to know you and your name. I lived on campus for many years and spend most of my time either at the library, room, union, a popular hangout spot and outside enjoying the weather. Another positive about our school is despite the high population, the crime is low compared to other universities in Maryland. Students here including me are very proud of our decision to attend Towson and we express that through our pride. The school's administration are patient and understand the student's need and do their best to help with your questions. Most students complain about finding parking space and construction. There improvements happening at Towson and they are almost finish. Since Towson is located near the city, there are free shuttles to take you around and public transportation to travel.

Overall, I believe Towson is a wonderful school. The best thing about the school is all the places to eat. The one thing I would change is some of the class room sizes, but the school is working on that. In my opinion the school is just the perfect size, not too small or too big. Towson is a big college town with a lot of things to do. Students can choose from a variety of bars, movies, restaurants, cafes, etc.

In my opinion, Towson is the perfect school. Campus reminds me of Central Park, in that there's Glen Woods (trees, a stream, and a campfire pit) at the heart of it and trees everywhere, but the buildings and the hustle give it a cool urban feel too. If urban is more your style, hop on a free Towson Bus or the public bus and you're there in 30 minutes, so many things to do in the city. Drive 20 minutes in the opposite direction of Baltimore and you get to some great parks and hiking trails- Oregon Ridge, Robert E. Lee Park, etc. You can also take the free school bus to get to all of the major universities in the Baltimore area! But really, you never need to leave campus because there's always something going on. The Campus Activities Board brings the best comedy shows, headline concert artists, comedians, and carnival nights right to us. If you're into incredible guest lectures, the Center for Student Diversity brings people like Mahatma Ghandi's grandson and the founder of the AIDS quilt project to inspire us. The Greek life is big, those who are involved are really passionate about it, but the majority of students are not Greek so you'll still have a very lively social life regardless of whether you join. Our clubs range from rock climbing to surfing to skydiving to video gaming, and if you find just 5 other people who share your interest you can create a club of your own. School pride is pretty huge, now that we're actually winning our football games the stands are packed with people in black-and-gold body paint. We're a really diverse school, culturally, interest-wise, etc., and everyone loves Towson for their own reasons (the sports, the parties, the never-ending class options, the incredible leadership training and community outreach programs, the Greek Life.. the list goes on). The most common thing I hear people say about Towson is that they'd never believe we're a 20,000 person school. Personally I've never been in a class larger than 25 people. You run into your friends on campus ALL of the time. The dining halls feel small and cozy, there are subculture hangout spots like the Hillel Lounge, the Rainbow Lounge, and the Free-Climbing Gym, everything about Towson has this homey feel, you have to try really hard to disengage enough to feel like one in the crowd here.

The two biggest stereotypes about Towson is that it's the second-choice school for Maryland residents who aren't accepted to the University of Maryland and that it's the school where all of the spray-tanned orange, Northface-wearing, party loving Jersey girls go. They're both pretty accurate if you take a look around. But you'll find that some orange Jersey girls are total sweethearts if you give them a chance. And most of the students who come here as a second-choice school end up falling in love with it. There are so many student groups and subcultures at Towson, at a school with 20,000 students everyone is bound to find a group of students who are just their style.

The location! Towson is fifteen minutes from Baltimore which offers shopping, restaurants, clubs, museums etc. Also the town of Towson itself has lots of restaurants, shopping areas, and shops. Towson is a great size, not too big or too small. You can see people you want to see often but it's easy to avoid the ones you don't want to see. The thing I would change is our poor athletic teams, it would be nice if our teams could win some games to get the school pride up.

Aryelle

Personally the school is too large, but the nice thing about Towson is that they provide several services to accommodate it's size. For example they have several shuttles and buses to take students places; this includes on campus and off. The best part is that they are free. With a population of around 20,000 you would think it is difficult to find friends or groups of people to hang out with. This is not true, there are so many on campus activities and clubs that you will find at least one friend when you attend an event. If you don't enjoy going to events as such, finding friends even in your classrooms isn't difficult. A lot of people a rereally friendly and most of the time your professor will have you work in groups, this also allows you an opportunity to meet others.
