What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Work on your study habits because they will be important in college. On a more realistic and general note I would practice using an alarm clock more effectively and getting up early so actually getting up for classes would have been easier.

What kind of person should attend this school?
Everyone should attend this school. Not only is everyone excited to be here, but the friendships you make will last forever and the education you receive is irreplacable. Because of where the school is located, it is easy to find ways to have a good time while still keeping an academic focus.

What's unique about your campus?
The cost compared to the level of education students receive. It is fairly inexpensive to go to Towson (at least for in-state) and I think that students leave Towson with much more than just a degree. Most students work at least part time, so they know what the "real world" is like before they graduate from college.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
Nothing. You got the information you needed about the school and campus life, so making the decision was easy and I was not disapointed in what I received.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
Parking, advising, and expensive food. It is difficult to find a decent parking space during the school day, and teh campus is really strict about parking tickets. A $75 ticket for a first time offense. The advising is not up to par. I know of many students who must stay an extra semester/year, due to bad advising. And the food is expensive.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The single most frustrating thing about my school, indeed all schools is a lack of funding availability for white males. I am financially secure by my own accord (I saved 80{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of those Army checks), debt free and attending school on the GI Bill. I've seved my country only to be discriminated against based on my gender and race. There are minority student unions yet I would be disbarred trying to start one of my own. The ladies get their own special orientation but where's one for the guys (to warn them about college girls for instance!)?

Describe your favorite campus traditions.
Towson University is very well-known for it's Education Program. However they also have other great qualities, such as the huge, 5-story library! Many of the academics, aside from Education, are also very respectable; such as the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, and many of their Liberal Art areas.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
The psychology program at Towson is very strong. I worked with a woman who was an expert in her field and regarded as such around the world. I also minored in Theatre, and I have to say the community within this major would be difficult to replicate anywhere else. As well, our Theatre program was well run and funded.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
The only thing that I brag about when I talk about my school to my friends is that in my freshman dorm I only had to share a bathroom with one other person.

What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
There is said to be typical long island stereotype at our school and they are labeled as sorority members. Even though there are many long island students, it does not mean that they are "mean" girls. Besides this one stereotype I hear often, I think the school has a variety of "groups" where students will find their direction of where they fit in more.

What is your overall opinion of this school?
Towson University, my school, is a very well rounded school. In my opinion there is a place for everyone. Whether you are into theater, sports, or greek life, we have it all! Towson is a huge school which I believe gives you many benefits, but at the same time there are many classes that have just 30 people, which gives an intimate feel so you won't get lost in the crowd. It is just the right size. People have a great impression of Towson University. The school is very well liked in the community and it is practically the center of the town. Towson is definitely a college town, with many fun activities and great hang outs. The administration has always been there to help, I have never had a experience where someone was not willing or just didn't have time to work with me. School pride is every where from Greek life to TU shirts and colors. But no worries if you are a grad student or no really into that there are many people who are just here for commuting. I have met inspiring teachers at Towson that had assured me that I am going into the right career. The only complaint that I have ever heard was when I was a freshman/ sophomore on campus everyone would smoke outside of the building, but now we are a smoke free campus which is awesome!!!

What are the academics like at your school?
Classes in my department are wonderful. I am part of the Foreign Language department and I know most of the students in my classes and usually I have more than one class with them. My major is considered relatively small though. Larger major like Business you will not see this AS MUCH, but you may have 1 class the same as a student in the same major. Students who are in upper level courses study a good amount, as it should be because they are getting serious about their career and their passion. Freshman and Sophomores tend to study less and party a little bit more. But this all depends who you hang out with, there are some very serious freshman and sophomores who are all about academia, for instance the honors college. I love my major ( Spanish and Latin American Studies). I had the opportunity to go to Ecuador for study abroad. With every major at Towson, you have the opportunity to travel and study. We have an AMAZING study abroad program, and if you have good grades, you can surely find compensation, there are many scholarships at our school available to you. I do not really spend time with professors out of class, but I know people who have. Although I do have a great relationship with my professors many who I would consider mentors. The most unique class I have ever taken is Capoeira, Brazilian fight dancing. I am taking in currently and receiving three credits. The Arts departments is absolutely amazing and diverse, there are so many great classes to take that will keep you active and on the move.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?
There are alot of sporting events to attend at Towson and they all usually have a good turn out. the one thing i would complain about in the dorms is that students don't leave there doors open for the most part. but this just means that you have to be proactive about going and meeting the people in your dorm and don't worry the other students in your dorm will be happy that you did. there are plenty of things to do all over campus and every year we have big events homecoming and tigerfest. these are both really fun events with great bands.

Where is the best place to get work done on campus?
The library is great and has multiple floors. Students can get so much done in this atmosphere due to the quiet floors or group floors - based on what you're there for. It's always beneficial to go here and they have great hours of being open and Starbucks is available in the front, which is always nice.

Describe the dorms.
Where I lived, in one of the towers, they had nice size rooms to share with a connectif bathroom to another room. We never had an issue with the bathroom or privacy and it was a great place to be on freshmen year. Other buildings that I have went to seemed just as big if not bigger than my room. I never really heard complaints other than there was no air conditioning in a building but that building is now under construction so that will be fixed.

What are your classes like?
You will have every type of class at Towson, from big lecture halls, to intimate settings, to rooms set up like a business conference meeting. I love the diversity because each class has it's own style. In addition, they are small enough where you get to know the professor on a personal level, which is great for getting extra help.
