Going to Marshall University was the best decision I have ever made. The people here are truly wonderful, from the students to the professors to the employees of the university. The new facilities are wonderful, and my favorite places on campus are Morrow Library, the Rec, and Towers Marketplace. I wouldn't choose any other school over Marshall if I was doing the college search process over again.

I have really enjoyed my two years at Marshall University and I’m grateful to have chosen it as my school. Although it is a big small, I still feel like I’m getting the coveted college experience that you see in movies and TV shows. My class sizes have been manageable and my professors have always been available.

I love being a marshall student, GO HERD! There are so many different opportunities available at marshall university! Football games are my favorite thing to attend and a great way to have some fun after studying all week for classes! I am a nursing student and in my opinion marshall has the best programs and courses offered for my path and I am so glad I chose Marshall!

Marshall University is fantastic. The dorms are good for the most part, but the internet on campus is rather unreliable if you try to study in your dorm. All the professors I have met so far are fair and understanding, and we have many resources to help students out like a Counseling center that is free to students and a Textbook Loan Program where you can borrow textbooks for three hours without having to pay a ton of money. You are safe when you are on campus, but it is not recommended that you stray from 5th Avenue or go past the train tracks by the Sheets gas station down the road.

I think the best thing about this school is the staff. We have great teachers who really want you to learn and educate you fully. If I could change one thing, it would be the location, we are in the middle of a very dangerous neighborhood with a lot of criminal activity. My favorite thing is school pride, which we pretty much swim in here at MU!

Difficult for students that think that they are still in High School and refuse to study. You are not in high school. Somethings will come easy while others you will need to work on. 19. Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Alot of people seem to think college jocks and greeks do a lot of partying and things of that nature but it isn't true. Sure, some of them do but in the same way that some band kids do or some science majors do. One of the great things about college is that you don't have stereotypical cliques like you did in high school.

  20. What is the stereotype of students at your school?

As an out of state student, whenever I would tell my friends I was going to Marshall, they would ask why. The academic reputation is completely unknown out of state, and mostly known for it's decent football team in the 90's and their unfortunate plane crash in the 70's. Otherwise, no one really knows anything about Marshall. I went because it was one of the few schools with a good sports management program, and wanted to experience a different culture. West Virginia as a whole gets a really bad rep, and are truly misrepresented by the national media, seeing people with one tooth talk about the flood that swept away their home. My friends would joke and say all the kids at Marshall have incest and work on a farm.

  21. What's the hardest thing about freshman year?

Transitioning into being completly responisible for yourself. If you oversleep for class you mom isn't there to wake you up. Chances are your classes won't be in the same buildings so you won't have a teacher to help you find the room your looking for. You also have to make sure to remeber any work you have to do for your classes because until you make new friends you probably won't know anyone in you classes first starting off so you won't have anyone to remind you that you have that paper to write or chapter to read. It's a big change to be completly on your own for the first time.
