I love Marshall! The best thing is that you can walk anywhere you want to go and you can walk to any class within 5 minutes. The only thing I would change about the school is upgrade some of the dorms. Marshall is just the right size and the teachers are really helpful and nice. i would reccomend Marshall to anyone who is serious about their education.

I think the best thing about this school is the staff. We have great teachers who really want you to learn and educate you fully. If I could change one thing, it would be the location, we are in the middle of a very dangerous neighborhood with a lot of criminal activity. My favorite thing is school pride, which we pretty much swim in here at MU!

The best thing about Marshall is that it's size is just right. Classes are usually small, so it is easy to get to know people. However, Marshall is also big enough to feel like you are getting the full college experience. It is evident that Huntington is a college town. Apartments and restaurants surround the Marshall Campus. You can walk almost anywhere you need to go.

I really like being a Marshall student. I love the Division 1 sports games! And the classes/professors have all been really good so far. There are a lot of clubs- including Greek Life so there are plenty of ways to get involved on campus. I think it's the perfect size- about 10,000 undergrads- so it's not too big or too small. I spend most of my time on campus in my dorm or hanging outside by the Student Center when the weather is nice. Huntington is definitely a "college town". It's a small city and a lot of the local businesses run deals for Marshall students or just support Marshall. The administrative system, honestly, is a bit screwy but it's not too too bad most of the time. There is definitely a lot of school pride here, especially because we have a big in-state rival- WVU. The most frequent student complaints are: for out of state kids, like me, there is not much on campus to do during the weekend unless there's a game and the food is not the best- it's OK, not great.

Marshall is a great school! It is in a city so there is always something going on but it is not a big city. The university itself is a couple of city blocks so you can get anywhere in ten minutes or less. Also our campus is very flat so not a lot of hills, which is great! The class sizes are small (usually around 30) and the professor will always get to know their students. While living on or off campus is good too!! As a freshmen you can have you own bathroom that you share with a roommate. There are also plenty of apartments around campus that are within walking distance that you have an option to live in as an upperclassman.

For me, the school size is just right. You can walk across the whole campus in around ten minutes. Perfect for when you are running late! When I tell people, who are not familiar with Marshall, that I go to there have usually have never heard it and only recognize it when I familiarize them about the movie We Are Marshall they respond "oh yeah!" I spend most of my time on campus in Smith hall just because I am in the nursing program and all of the classes are usually held there. My freshman year I hung around the fountain that is a great place to meet people. There is a lack of communication is seems at Marshall between buildings because when looking for answers you are usually told go ask this person or you get told different information from different buildings. What I really hate about the campus is that a lot of people smoke and the sidewalks are not very big so if you are walking behind someone who is smoking you usually are hacking the whole way to class because of the smoke. There is school pride to an extent, when the team starts to lose the student section fades away.

Marshall University is amazing! It's located in Huntington, WV, which is a small city and complete college town. The university is located above the heart of the city, but once you're on campus, you'd never believe you're in the middle of a city. School pride is off the charts, and it's a great atmosphere.

The best thing about Marshall is the very small campus. Every location on campus is walkable in 5 minutes or less, and that makes sleeping to the last minute attainable every day. One thing I'd change about Marshall is making on campus housing nicer, and only the freshman dorms and Commons (which is very selective) are nice. The school is a decent size, and even though there are nearly 10,000 students, it feels like I know everyone in my class who is a residential student. Marshall is slightly more selective school than WVU, the states flagship university, but it is West Virginia, so people aren't exactly aware that its a decent school. I spent a solid portion of time in the new student rec center, which is a state of the art facility with a nice pool, gym, and bball courts. It is where the intramural games are held. I also spent a fair bit of time at off campus apartments with friends, even though I lived in the dorms. Huntington is far from a college town, and is almost completely deserted on the weekends minus out of staters. More than half of the school's population are commuters. Marshall administration is easy to deal with. the biggest controversies surround the fraternity/sorority scene, and when a frat gets kicked off campus or suspended, everyone hears about it. There is a fair bit of school pride, especially for the football team, where almost every student and Huntington resident attends the games. An unusual thing about Marshall is the lack of party scene. Frat row can be seen completely dead on a Saturday night at 12. Most frequent student complaints are about the bad cafeteria food and lack of things to do in Huntington besides drink. Huntington is an eye-sore of a city.
