It is way different since I am from Las Vegas (west coast), so everything is new but the experience I have here so far is amazing and I love everyone and everything here. I love to play soccer here as well. I came in thinking I would not like it here because it is so new but it is the opposite, I love it and I have so much fun with my friends whenever we go out and the school part of it is amazing as well, great experience so far.

Wesleyan will forever be my home among the hills. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there making new friends and developing professional relationships with my professors. I honestly have to say you get what you pay for, Wesleyan is extremely expensive but I wouldn't trade the education I received there for any other college/university. GO BOBCATS :)

Owen - 07/25/2019

During my time at West Virginia Wesleyan College, my academic performance, my involvement in extracurricular activities on campus exemplify the hardworking and ambitious character I possess. As a result of my hard work, I have been inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and Beta Beta National Honor Society for my outstanding academic performance. Outside of the classroom, I’m a sprinter on Wesleyan’s Track and Field Team, a member and recently elected secretary of the Black Student Union, and the Student Senate. As the year came to an end, I sat back and realized that I have experienced so much this past year and Wesleyan is shaping me to be a world changer. This is more than I could even see in myself before attending this college.

As a student-athlete and intellectually demanding student of WVWC, I can truly say that the professors and staff I have had the pleasure to work with over the past three years have been nothing but excellent. With a small campus and small class sizes, Wesleyan students have the opportunity to engage with professors on a personal and academic level that is unmatched in its ability to provide students with aid, guidance, and an overall commitment to academic and professional excellence. Professors care about their students and genuinely know them, and are often willing to go above and beyond to ensure our success. I have had to navigate sporting conflicts, study abroad challenges, and scheduling obstacles. Rather than go it alone or encounter resistance, however, faculty and staff members of WVWC have done their best to help me achieve my goals and ensure I am on the best path to success. The specialized accessibility, encouragement of intellectual prowess, and personalized education I have received through Wesleyan are something I will forever be grateful for, and will allow me to confidently move forward in my future academic and career oriented goals.

West Virginia Wesleyan College FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at West Virginia Wesleyan College?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for West Virginia Wesleyan College is 77%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

In hindsight, there are several things that i see would have helped me in adjusting to college life. For one, the food. I would have made sure that I was used to less appetizing foods. But despite all that i could have prepared myself for, if I got the opportunity to go back and give myself advice, i would not take it. I believe that everything happens for a reason. If i had been better prepared then i would not have gained knowledge from the valuable experiences that i have had. For example, if i would have known that my roommate would be a bit talkative, i would not have learned how to deal with someone with a more chatty personality. Also, if i would have been aware of the lack of heat in the dorm rooms, i would not have learned how to be resourceful in desperate times. The experiences that i have been through in college have taught me more than i could have imagined; more than mother could have told, and more than a text book could have shown. I would not be who and where i am today had i not gone through what i have.

  4. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I had none how hard some of the subjects and classes were before college. Going into college, I wasn?t prepared for some of the material and challenges of college that have now become benefits. This college takes a lot of work to succeed in; but it?s extremely rewarding when you can look past the black and white of an issue and further analyze it. Going to this college has really opened-up my mind to different possibilities in my life that I would have never considered before attending it.

The greatest attribute of West Virginia Wesleyan College is its small size. This quality creates a friendly and personal atmosphere that may not be achieved by larger campuses. Professors strive to know each student?s name and to engage students in classroom discussion; thus students are enabled to better learn their materials. Campus staff such as cafeteria and shop employees are also enabled to form relationships with students. This personal relationship, however, is not limited to faculty. Students exhibit immense respect and kindness due to their familiarity with one another. Such qualities conjunctively create a unique "homey" atmosphere.
