What's your overall opinion of Mars Hill University?

My opinion of the university is that your there to learn and be familiar to new thingsthat you didn't know at first. If you would like to live on or off campus there's plenty of housing available. Get to know your professors well outside of the classroom.

Madeline - 05/05/2020

Overall the campus is small and can be seen as unimpressive when first visiting. However the upper staff are constantly talking to students to figure out how they can improve campus life. As an RA I see many aspects of campus life, including that getting upper level students to participate can be difficult, however the first year students are always ready to do any activity on campus. If you are looking for a cozy small town, Mars Hill is the place to be. Faculty and staff are always prepared to help students in any way possible, and the student government association is big on helping communicate between the students and staff.

Angela - 02/08/2020

As a commuter, I do mostly enjoy MHU. The campus is small and cozy and it's easy to become well acquainted with it. As a smaller campus, it's also quieter and more academically focused. Sometimes I do feel a disconnect because I can't participate with activities or clubs very well. And some days I feel as though commuters are kind of an afterthought, especially in their freshman year. But overall the staff and administration are friendly and there are many great opportunities on campus.

Joshua - 08/13/2019

Mars Hill University, while not being the fanciest of schools, has become a second home for me. I have been able to meet so many motivated and amazing people. My professors put my education first and there has never been a time where I felt that my voice or opinions went unheard. There is plenty of opportunities to express my self artistically and I cherish that!

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could go back to my senior year of high school with the knowledge that I have aquired about college life and making the transition I would advice myself a couple of different things. Being more organized would be one of them. I wouldn't have packed so much to bring to school, the rooms are not as big as I had thought they would be. I would also advice myself to start pushing myself harder in high school. The work in college is much different and is required to be done in a shorter amount of time. Always trustin in God, at first it seemed like college was something I just wasn't going to be able to accomplish, but in the end God was by my side the whole way and he never gave me any thing that I couldn't handle.

  7. What kind of person should attend this school?

Someone that should attend Mars Hill college should only attend if they like small classes, small town living, helpful professors, paying well over 30,000 dollars a year, food that is on the bland side, and about 30 minutes from civilization. 35 students in one class is considered too many. The town is so small that there are only 15 stores on it's main street. The profeesors do everthing they can to help you pass their class. The tuition is way to expensive. The food could use an update and Asheville is where you go to have fun.
