I started my college career it seems, at Lenoir Community College in 2010. At that point I started in the Continuing Education Side. I always felt that Lenoir was welcoming to students. I obtained my EMT in 2010, my AEMT 2012, and my Paramedic in 2012. In 2019-2020 I began to take Curriculum classes to obtain my Emergency Management Degree. Through hard work, a pandemic, and online courses I am scheduled to finish in Spring 2023. All of this while working full time and being a wife. Lenoir has made many strides in their program. All of the Instructors are easy to get a hold of when you need them. Lenoir offers many programs and degrees making it easy to obtain your Associates or transfer to a four-year college. Lenoir has great mentality when it comes to students needs and aspirations. I am actually on the committee to assist in suggestions. This makes a huge difference when creating programs and educating the future. Lenoir has a smaller campus then some other colleges but offers a multitude of programs as the others do as well. They have 2 smaller campuses in the neighboring counties to help with travel time for some of the programs. They do not have housing on site. Although the housing market offers a way for students to stay close if needed. Lenoir will always be my college for my continuing education and my paramedic certification. I hope to obtain another Associate’s Degree for public Safety administration through them in the future.

LCC was exactly what I needed as a high school graduate. It was nearby, affordable, easy to navigate, small classes that allowed for a great tailored education, and plenty of opportunities both for your career or extracurricular. Overall this is a great way to start your college career and learn in a safe environment!

Ashley - 04/12/2018

Lenoir Community College has been a great school for me. It has many certificate, diplomas, and associate degrees to choose from, but it was also a good starting point for me before transitioning over to a four-year university. The academic advisers and professors made the transfer process occur easily and without problems or delay. LCC is concerned about the well-being and the future of their students, and I would recommend it to my friends as a wonderful college to attend.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

As a highschool senior, I would tell myself to learn more about the world around myself. I would make myself aware that not everyone was raised to believe what I believe, and that it is okay to have conflicting viewpoints. I would also encourage myself to save more money since things in college are more expensive that I ever dreamed. I would ask myself to read more and become more well-read in things such as politics. I would ultimately advise myself to become more aware before going to college.

I have been both to a four year university and now to a community college. The biggest problem with the community college is that the class are not difficult enough to show people who will be transfering to a larger school what real college classes will be like.
