What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
If I could go back, I would probably have gotten into some AP course, because I was not prepared for college courses as I thought I would be. I should have looked into more careers than thinking I would not change my mind. I would also tell myself that, just because I am given more freedom in college, I shouldn't think that I can settle for just okay. I needed to still work as hard as I did in high school. I thought I was prepared for my first year in college, but I wasn't its completely a different atmosphere than high school. I would just make sure to tell myself not to pretend I know certain material to cut my study time short. I should form a schedule to make sure I don't fall behind.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
My friends are always jealous because I know so many people from my school. Since our class sizes are so small, I've had classes with almost all of the sophomores in my school and I know everyone. I love it because not only does that make great connections, but it makes school more fun and enjoyable. I also brag about how we don't have to take a ton of general education classes. The classes we take are really only related to our major, which saves lots of money!

What's unique about your campus?
I consider the best thing about my school to be the staff, students, and classes. The staff because they are very willing to help you in succeding in the goals you have set in place for yourself. The students because they are very friendly and it is a very diverse campus, which I love. Finally, the classes because they talk about things I am interested in and work around my schedule. My school is the best choice for me and many others.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish that I had not tried so quickly to grow up and escape my home town. I had applied to Western Michigan University's college, and I was accepted into their Art School. It is difficult to get into, so I was very excited, but once I began taking classes, I hated it. I spent the next few years wasting money and time in college, when I should have trusted my elders and gone to community college in the first place. I laugh now, but now I am incredibly in debt, and working full time while in college.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing about my school is that there is no sense of community. The student body is hugely divided, and I do not have a single friend on campus. I would really enjoy being able to live at school.

What kind of person should attend this school?
The school I actually attend is Kendall College of Art and Design, but it wasn't on the list. So, I think the type of person who should attend this school is an artistic student. Someone who loves having the freedom to create what they want. Someone who loves small class sizes and fun teachers. I love everything about Kendall and I know that anyone who wanted a degree in art would love going here!

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
It is not challenging enough. I currently have a 4.0. I would really like to be challenged more, I work a full-time job, and I am a full-time student, and I am still able to maintain plenty of free-time.

What kind of person should not attend this school?
In the 2009 year I attended CMU and in this year I am attending GRCC. I am going here to get my general education requirements completed. I think a community college is the best way to save money and get the gen. eds out of the way. On the other hand, I also believe it is very important for a student to receive that first year experience of college life because it allows young adults to find out who they really are when they are out of the nest so to speak.
