If you have any idea of what you plan to do with your future or what your interests are, really make sure to consider these when you go on campus visits. Also, keep in mind what will make you look better down the road. For instance, if you're planning on going to medical school, will the school you're applying to make it easy for you to obtain a research position or internership. These things REALLY help and you really want to make sure that the school you go to is going to have these options available.

What kind of person should not attend this school?
I don't think there's anyone who shouldn't attend this school. That would make DePauw seem like an exclusionary school, which it definitely is not. It is an incredibly diverse school, despite its size. If you visit the school and you like it, enroll!

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
Theres some classism and racism, but it has to do with how greek our school is. Things are changing though, and it's hapening through activism from more liberal peers.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
We are a private school with great academic standards. I mostly brag about the difficulty of the classes. DePauw also has a thriving Greek life. DePauw University has extremely high standards, small personal classes, great Professors, and an overall great feel.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Given that DePauw is so much smaller than all the other schools that I considered, I am guaranteed small class sizes which allow me to get to know my professors better. Also, DePauw has many opportunities to offer such as Programs of Distinction, study abroad, numerous events on campus throughout the year, and networking for after graduation. While there, I don't simply feel like a face in the crowd like I would at my other choice schools -- I feel like I'm making lifetime friends and valuable contacts.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
There's so much focus on greek life without enough mingling. People dedicate so much time to their houses that they lose what they cared about before they joined, and independent students are often left out of school-wide events when there is a small focus of competition between houses.

Why did you decide to go to this school?
I came here because they offered excellent out of the classroom opportunities to learn. For example, we have a winter term where we take the month of January to find an internship, design an independent study, or study on or off campus in one of our faculty led courses. And the best thing is that during this term we do not get a grade, just satisfactory or not, which takes the pressure off and you can really enjoy learning and doing the material that you are being taught. And I also came to DePauw because it offers a liberal arts education which allowed me to take a variety of classes in lots of different departments allowing me to become a more well rounded student and enjoy other subjects outside my major that I am interest in.

What is your overall opinion of this school?
If I could sum up my opinion of DePauw in one sentence I would say that it offers unbelievable experiences that I couldn't find anywhere else. The best thing about DePauw that has offered to me some unbelievable experiences has been winter term. Winter term last the entire month of January and students are encouraged to apply for courses abroad and on campus, design independent studies, and do internships. With how competitive graduate schools and job market today experience is a important factor to getting to where you want to go no matter what field. And winter term is the perfect time to get that experience you need.
The size is also perfect. DePauw's student body consist of approximately 2,300 students. Its big enough that you don't know everyone, but small enough that your professors remember your name, your face, and probably something personal about you. And because the campus is not huge and sprawling I know where all the resources available to me are located.
Another thing I love about attending DePauw is that when people hear where I go to college they either are really impressed or have never heard of it. This might not seem like something to love, but I do because I have never encountered a reaction that was negative. And honestly most people have heard of it and are really impressed. DePauw is known for some of its esteemed alumni and for the talented students that make DePauw what it is.
If I could change anything it would be our school's team spirit. I love sports and we have them but they are not a big occasion. There is one game every year, Monon, that everyone goes too and its so fun! I wonder how much more fun the rest of the football season could be if everyone came out like that for all of the games.

What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
We have a very strong Greek life on our campus. Over 60{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the student body is Greek! But the atmosphere doesn't reflect that most people you pass on campus are members of a sorority or fraternity. Since the majority is Greek people don't identify with being Greek as much as they identify with other involvements on campus that are more exclusive and carry more recognition, such as programs like Management Fellows, ITAP, and Civic Fellows just to name a few.
Also because DePauw is a private school in a somewhat impoverished community, all students tend to be viewed by the community as "rich kids". This stereotype is by not true at all. Our campus is very diverse with students from all kinds of social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds. Because DePauw offers so many scholarships and grants to students it allows for students from all walks of life to enjoy at top notch education at one of the best private institutions in the mid-west.

What are your classes like?
At DePauw, my classes are challenging (some more than others). I have never dropped a class, which really shows how great the professors here are. Even if a class seems like it is going to be overwhelming, the professor makes it fun and manageable, and you end up learning a lot and having fun along the way. There are also classes that are less intensive and more relaxed. It all depends on how much you want to challenge yourself.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?
I am involved in NSCS, Circle K, Timmy Global Health, Alpha Chi Omega, and Keynotes. NSCS is one of many college honor societies that exist on campus. Many students are invited to more than one and some are actually in more than one. Typically these honor societies are the equivalent to NHS in high school except they can be a little more involved and students generally run a chapter, unlike high school where there is a teacher advisor. Circle K and Timmy Global Health are service groups, one is more local service oriented and the other is through a bigger national organization that helps foreign countries with medical aid. Service groups of all types that serve just about any cause are very prevalent on our campus and i would say the biggest portion of students are dedicated to these groups. Service is a very big deal on DePauw's campus and its easy to get involved with a number of issues you care about. Keynotes is a acapella group, we have a school of music so there is a musical artsy component to our campus. I will say though that while we have an excellent music school they are the minority of students and often are seen as separated from the rest of campus because the students in that school have completely different curriculum than the school of liberal arts. Lastly is my involvement in Alpha Chi Omega. It is a sorority and it is my biggest involvement I have held several leadership positons, one being on the executive board, I am done lots of service through our philanthropy and learned how to organize events to raise funds for philanthropy. Greek life on DePauw's campus is huge! If you don't join a house you will probably at some point seriously consider joining one. Over 60{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the student body is greek. Whats great about it being so big is that because its so common for people to be in a house, being greek doesn't rule our lives like at big public schools where you are the minority and the only people you socialize with are from your house.
