As cliche as it sounds, Davidson is like a family. Anyone who is associated with it, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, students or community members, all care about the school, the community, and the students. When there is a major event be it good or bad, the communal energy on campus is amazing. Everyone pulls together behind the cause to support the individuals or issue. You just know that everyone is thinking about the same thing, and caring about it as much as you do. As a result, there is tons of school spirit, especially when the basketball team is playing. The size is good. Whenever I walk across campus I see people I know, people I recognize, and people I have never seen before. The administration really tries to take care of students and help them whenever possible. I will never forget the first time that I went to see a professor in office hours. I sat down and we discussed my question for a few minutes, but then she started asking about my other classes, and my life. She wanted to know how I was liking Davidson, if I was having any problems settling in, and if there was anything I need help with in general. It was great to know that there was someone there to help me.

The best thing about Davidson for me personally is the strong sense of community. While this may sound very cliched, it really rings true. I feel very at home on this campus, and there's a real underlying sense of respect for all the other members of the community. People treat eachother with respect, people say hello or smile when they pass even if they don't know you. The Honor Code really enables such a community to exist. I can leave my belongings in the library or in the union and know that they (hopefully) will not get stolen. The only downside to such a tight knit place is the fact that in order to maintain it this way the administration has to be more involved in certain issues in a way that sometimes seems unnecessary. There sometimes feels like the school tries to control more than they should, but in the end it benefits the community as a whole.
One thing I would change about the school would probably be that I would expand the curriculum. Sometimes I find it hard to find enough classes that I am really dying to take, but overall it is still good.

Davidson is the perfect school for me. I love the small community feel, the strong honor code, and the excellent academics. There is really no where else I would rather be. When I tell people I go to Davidson, they are often impressed because of the college's strong academic reputation. But that is only a small part of it. There is so much more that Davidson has to offer, most of which stems from the great people here.

Davidson is a small school, which some people may view as a negative thing, but I think the size of Davidson greatly contributes to my experience here. Because the school is small, the student-professor ratio is small as well. That allows for much more personal attention, and I believe that greatly enhances the learning experience. The size of the faculty may be small compared to other schools, but the faculty that are here, are excellent. They really want to get to know the students, and they want to see them succeed.
I thought that when I decided to go to Davidson I was sacrificing the team spirit and excitement of sports that my friends would have at larger schools. I was wrong. When you go to games you feel so much more pride because when you watch a game, you're watching your friends. The baskestball team here is also excellent, making it to the elite eight this year. Coming from ACC country, that was very exciting for me.

Davidson is a small school but you get to know a lot of people who are similar in work ethic but also very different in personality. Most people at home don't know where Davidson is or what it represents but the truth is it is a great highly respected liberal arts program. I spend most of my time in my room if I'm working, or around the dorm, which is all freshman. We live in a great college town and the community members really embrace all of the college activities. My favorite memories from my freshman year include the men's basketball team's run to the Elite 8 in the NCAA tournament. Most of the student body, including myself trekked up to Detroit (paid for by the trustees) to watch them play. The atmosphere on campus is a community of support, a feeling you can't forget.

It's a wonderful place!

Best thing is you feel so comfortable. Teachers are so willing to help, they know your name, always ready to help.

nobody used to know where it is, but after the basketball tournament it might become more popular.

The community atmosphere at Davidson is amazing, both on campus and within the town as well. The relationship between the school and the town is great. An example of his was the town's reaction to Davidson's success at basketball this year, you could really tell the whole town was behind the team.

Davidson is the perfect school. It has the challenging academic experience with the good social life, too. There is a little bit of everything to do, too. It is the perfect size. I love being able to get to know my teachers. I see a new person that I've never seen every day. The campus is beautiful and everyone is friendly.
