I'm a returning student after a 13 year break. Cameron has made it such a smooth transition. Staff is excellent and helpful, Professors are easily accessible and understand that students have lives outside of school, so are incredibly accommodating. Other students are very friendly and helpful when needed. 10/10 would recommend.

I feel as though Cameron is a great school to attend especially if you want to be close to home and are on a budget. You get the chance to meet many different people from all over the world and its so much fun. All the professors make time for each student, and there's always fun side activities to do.

I think that Cameron is a very good school for its price. The tuition is very affordable and the teachers are very engaging. On top of the already affordable tuition there are plenty of scholarships offered by the University. I am a fan of the class size because they are normal around 20 students and this allows for engaging class discussion and I feel encouraged to ask questions. The campus is also quite pretty although small, however, this does make it easier to get from class to class on time. For me it is a good school to adjust to college life before going on to a different school.

It is an amazing campus and it small. I love the classes and the professors. I love their foods and drinks, it is very delicious. They had a very good program in early childhood education. I want to pursue my bachelor degree in that program. I want to raise my education to a higher level to show my future students how it's like to become a teacher. I made a lot of new friends and I cannot wait to start my freshman year with my new classmates and professors.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

    I would tell myself that applying for scholarships now is very important, and even though you might have some "blow-off" classes you should still try your hardest because it can and will affect your GPA. I would tell myself to get involved in as many organizations as I could handle, and stay on top of the missions they acquire. I would tell myself to avoid any distractions, and have fun after I am done with business because high school is the beginning of a new life and it is more than preparing their students for whatever step they decide to take next in their new lifes. I would try to help myself mature and learn from my minor set-backs rather than making the same mistakes over and over again until something major happens. I would tell myself it is not as long as you think, and college is right around the corner so start preparing for college now!

  3. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

    I was apprehensive about going back to school. I knew that Cameron was a sister school of OU, and offered smaller classes, with a cheaper tuition. I talked to several people from admissions and saw how courteous everyone was. I didn't want to wait on school anymore, and was addmitted to Cameron later that day. I know that my proffessors care. Because of the small classrooms, I am able to get sound advice and tips to better my education daily. Cameron University allows students to meet people from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, and the ability to excel.

  4. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

    What I wish I would have known would be to talk to my advisor about the classes I need to take and when to take them. I did not get off to a bad start but I wish I would have known what classes I needed to start with. Also I wish I would have applied for more scholarships to help me with book and housing fees.

    Anyone that is looking for a opportunity to learn and to learn the trade of their choice. This college is not to hard to get in to, it is affordable. It has great professors, they are very helpful and are available when you need to talk to them. I would highly recommend this school to anyone willing to higher their education.

  9. Describe your favorite campus traditions.

    Cameron University is, as far as many colleges go, fairly inexpensive, especially when compared to such schools as OU and OSU. The campus is fairly good size and has friendly proffessors who truly care that you get your money's worth in your classes. The campus has two highrize dorm complexes and a popular apartment complex, "the village", or Cameron village. Small to moderate class sizes allow student-teacher interaction, not seen in such schools as OU.

  13. What is your overall opinion of this school?

    Our school is the perfect size for any person at whatever level in their collegiate career. People often say negative things about Cameron because they are not involved in activities outside of going to class, going to work, and going home. I've always recommended to be involved in something on campus and the collegiate career is much more enjoyable. I spend most of my time working in the President's Office or in class, between 8-5 and then am heavily involved in activities outside of class time, which I love and see most of my friends. Cameron is growing in it's appeal to many Lawtonians, but it gets lost in the shuffle from time to time because of the proximity to the University of Oklahoma. Our administration works hard to provide us with the right equipment and supplies, an affordable price and a typical collegiate environment and do a good job of it! The school pride has grown significantly over the past 5 years and keeps growing. I think the Centennial year was a good kickstart for a long and happy future of Cameron.

    I don't know if there are stereotypes about CU students. It used to be thought that Cameron was just a campus for older students; however, even though the campus is non-traditional student friendly, the trend of the traditionally aged college student is appearing on campus with stronger numbers each year.

  15. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

    I'd have to say the most popular organizations that I see are the Programming Activities Council and the Student Government Association. I'm involved with PAC and have been with SGA in the past. They both are great to be involved in and provide ways to be a leader and learn to grow in your own interests on campus.

  16. What are the academics like at your school?

    Ask any Cameron student and the thing they'll most likely say that they enjoy about the classroom life is the size. Most classes are less than 50 people and therefore, the professor is able to know you by name very quickly. My favorite classes have been my Latin classes and Graphic Design courses. I've been able to learn a lot because of the one on one interactions. The education at Cameron is geared toward getting a job, however, many professors emphasize the importance of learning. The Graphic Design area in the Art Department has improved significantly since my beginning here in the Spring of 2005 and I strongly recommend students, especially those who live in the area and are considering art schools, to gain a foundation at Cameron because of the care of the professors to improve and succeed, as well as, being able to save significant amounts of money and have less debt when graduating college.

TUITION & AID

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
