Let me be blunt: the administration at this university is a money-hungry machine, and students are the ones getting chewed up. It’s shocking to see an institution that touts Christian values put profits first, all while pretending to care. I’ve followed every rule, submitted every document, and yet, when it came time for support, I was met with fines and surprise charges that seemed designed to rake in cash rather than provide aid. The faculty may genuinely care, but the administration? They’re more interested in their bottom line than in the well-being of students. They’ve made it painfully clear that their priorities are upside down. If you’re thinking of enrolling here, consider this: are you willing to pay a steep price for an education while being exploited financially? The disconnect between what this university claims and the reality is staggering. For any parent or student considering this place, take heed. This administration’s practices are a far cry from the values they preach. You might end up feeling like a dollar sign instead of a valued student. Proceed with caution—this institution’s actions tell a story that should give anyone pause.

I think that Oral Roberts University is a great College and has many of the things that I am looking for in a college, it has an amazing education program in which students are in a classroom helping a young child how to read in their first semester and it is a private Christian college which is important to me.

As a current student of Oral Roberts University, I thoroughly enjoy the campus life and the education Oral Roberts brings to the table, my only major complaint is with the issue of scheduling classes and transferring credits. I feel that sometimes I get sent on a wild goose chase just to get a class or to make sure I have everything I need for a class. But overall, I love this university and the people, connections, and resources it has brought me!

They do not care about their nursing students. For two year, they have failed their freshman nurses. The nursing students don't have a lecture. They are given Youtube videos that don't line up with their lab (Which is supposed to be for another class entirely.) The professor for this class teaches highschoolers during the day making them unable to answer questions that the students have. The students only get to interact with the professor for thirty minutes a week which results in most of the nursing students being unable to get their questions answered. The professor also don't consistently respond to emails. The quizzes don't use the terminology that the books are using. I know once apon a time the ORU nursing college was respectable and well renown. That is not now. That is not today. And they have shown no inclination to rememdy the errors of their curriculum. (or honestly lack of it.) I would not come here for their nursing program. I pray that they will learn from their mistakes and make it a curriculum that is designed to help the nursing students. Currently it's a program where the nursing students have no help and might as well just have done homeschooling for the curriculum. I mean, it's all from youtube anyway.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

My situation is a little different, as I am a non-traditional student. The advice I would of given myself as a high school student would be to not take anything for granted. School is a gift. It is very expensive and as I said should not be taken for granted. Although it is a joy to learn and is necessary for a career or certain professions, it is still a gift that should be treasured and viewed as such. To not value your education is a disservice to all, your family, your community, but mostly yourself. So, I would say, take every day and treasure it, every class and adore it and every moment of every day, rejoice in it.

  3. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing would be the cost. It is so expensive to go there and if you cannot find any kind of scholarships then you will leave with over $100,000 in debt from a 4 year career as a student.

  12. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

This will be my first year at Oral Roberts University. There are some things that bother me already, however. The school is very strict on behavior. Students are not allowed to have sex or drink. I think that is incredibly narrow-minded of the school. College is a place where you learn about yourself and become an adult, so why does this school insist on treating its students like children?

  13. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

The most unique aspect of my school is the Prayer Tower which is located in the center of the campus. As a Christian I truly believe that prayer or declaration is pivital in my life. I do not believe that the location of the Prayer Tower is a coincidence because the founder Oral Roberts himself prayed in existence this beautiful and successful institution. The Prayer Tower for me, is a reminder of how things become. Just think about it, it's located in the center and if you walk around it, you will see exactly what Oral Roberts prayed for.
