My classmates are very passionate about their values and beliefs and will argue adamantly for what they believe is right, even if there is opposition against them.

In the same breath, my classmates can be frustrating, beautiful, intoxicating, revolting people. Brown is designed to facilitate conversation and (in many ways) it has proved to be the most uncomfortable conversations to have. However, they are the most rewarding, thought-provoking talks with the colest people I ever met.

For the most part, Brown students are intellectually curious, hard working, and accomplished individuals. A good number of Brown students are valedictorians and salutatorians of their high schools. In fact, 50{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of students who got accepted for the Class 2015 are valedictorians/salutatorians. Indeed, many are from privileged and wealthy backgrounds and it will be hard for you not to come across someone who did not attend a college preparatory or private high school. With that being said, keep in mind that this "elitist" characteristic is just as prevalent in other Ivies. Nevertheless, Brown prides itself in TRYING to foster a socioeconomically diverse student body so it's quite likely that you will find students from all walks of life.

Crazy, incredible, unique, diverse, and laid back, all at the same time.

Brown is a very accepting and open-minded environment. I don't know much about the LGBTQ community here, but it does exist and definitely plays a role in campus life. There's also a fair amount of racial and ethnic diversity, and it's always interesting to meet international students here. Some people tend to hang out with cliques of friends that are similar to them but there's a lot of interaction between people of different backgrounds overall. A lot of students are financially well-off, and people here in general dress well.
